Last night me and the missus listened to a playlist of her best songs and even though she only made three albums, there are truly some gems to be found in her catalogue. I wanted to share this beautiful song with you people, for those who haven't heard it. She is singing to her detractors, acknowledging the countless putdowns she's heard over the years, like she has no talent of her own, she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth etc. The line "you can take my place, you'd do it better anyway" is heart-wrenching. As if to say "you think my life is so great, have it, see for yourself." Beautiful song.

She has some really good songs, actually. I know she's not a great vocalist, but I love the tone of her voice.
And especially when it comes to lyrics she was more talented songwriter than given credit for. This song was on her last album, I think very obviously a reflection on MJ's death, and at this time another layer is added.

The song "I Was Wrong" from the same album was also said to be about MJ.

This was her biggest "hit", I guess you can say that. The lyrics are really profound here too. "Someone turned the lights out there in Memphis
Ooh, that's where my family's buried and gone (gone) Oh yeah Last time I was there I noticed a space left Oh, next to them there in Memphis, yeah In the damn back lawn"

Yeah, that was a cool song. That first album had a really great vibe to it. Opening track "S.O.B." is fantastic too. In terms of her voice, I think it suits the style of music she was going for. I couldn't imagine a Mariah-type singer with vocal acdobatics pulling off that style the same.

I like dirty laundry, it introduced me to the original
Storm and grace was recorded in England, she did an interview about the creative process when it came out and she sounded really passionate about it, the music reminded me of Sheryl crow when I sampled it

I like several of her songs. She's got a decent voice and she was a decent songwriter. The Road Between is one of my faves. I loved the Storm and Grace album too. SO many of the songs are about Michael. It's sad though because you can tell how much pain she was throughout her life when you listen to her music. Just a Dream, I Was Wrong, Storm and Grace, Soften the Blows, How Do You Fly this Plane are all good ones.

I listened to the Storm and Grace album the other day again and it's such a great album. It's definitely MJ favorite of her three albums, both the musical style and lyrical content as well. And yeah I think it's an objectively good album, anyway, that would have deserved more attention.

^^^ It's a great album for sure. Liberian Girl tweeted her back when it came out telling her how great it was and got a reply from LMP thanking her on Twitter. And Lady Gaga liked the tweet!! That's her claim to fame.... It is a cracking record. Definitely her most accomplished album - what a shame we will never see a follow up. It's definitely MJ favorite of her three albums, Predictive text? π

It looks like they activated Lisa's official YouTube channel again. It's been 10 years they last uploaded something on it, but now they uploaded two of her older videos in better quality than what you could find on YT before.
