Tom Petty was an amazing artist! I loved both his solo work and his work with the Traveling Wilburys. Some of my favourites:

I'm sure you know some of his songs, you just don't know it's Tom Petty. His voice and sound are very distinct. You don't know Free Fallin'? I Won't Back Down (the melody was horrendously plagiarized by Sam Smith in his song 'Stay With Me')?

This is so sad! I love his music. Another genius and legend gone. RIP Tom Petty!

Yes, this really took me by surprise yesterday. Very sad news...

I can't say I was a huge fan, but I did like some of his work. Petty was one of those artists I always planned to explore in depth as well as see live at some point (have some friends who are really into him). Just shows once again that we should treasure these artists while they're here, cause they can suddenly just be.. gone.

Rest in peace...

The Traveling Wilburys are my favorite supergroup, now just Bob Dylan and Jeff Lyne are alive.

And Tom Petty's performance with The Heartbreakers was to me the last good halftime show on the super bowl, I loved their show. May you rest in peace, Mr. Petty!
