Everytime I go to the USA or another country I try to catch up some MJ spots. Feel free to add your photos of every MJ related place(s) all around the world. This time I've been to the Salton Sea, an artificial (because flooded by accident in 1905) sea roughly 150 miles southeast to Los Angeles. Setting for In The Closet. Unfortunately every building seen in the video was just a setting thus removed after its filming. It's a hot, dried out area. Smelled like dead fish n stuff... (Click to enlarge)

I was in Irland a few months ago. We had a bus tour and were shown several great places. At one stop, the bus driver told us that this place used to be a hideout for Michael Jackson. It was in fact the first place both me and MJ have visited, I was so happy This is from a report Driving toward the Sally Gap we encounter a beautiful lake called Lough Tay. Situated on the 6,000 acre estate of Luggala which is owned by the Guinness Family. The lake is said to resemble a pint of Guinness because of its dark peaty waters and the imported white sandy beach on the shore at the entrance to Luggala Estate. Hence it is often referred to as โThe Guinness Lakeโ. The Estate, the Castle and its smaller lodges are available to rent and have been host to many famous personalities including Michael Jackson and Mel Gibson.

I was on Concorde this week (obviously not flying), we sat down Bad the guide told us who normally sat on our seats.
The one next to me was a global star who bought both seats so he could stretch out, as soon as he sat down he would pull a blanket over his head and sleep the whole journey.
And that pop star was......?
Boy George.
No, it was Mike. I was sat in the Queen Mother's seat, I wasn't best pleased.

Great pics guys. I did a bit of an MJ tour when I visited the US in 2014, I'll get some pics up.
MichaelD - what's Gary like to visit? I'd like to see the house.

Very cool pics MichaelD.
A spot that's very easy to reach is the Hoyt-Schermerhorn subway station in Brooklyn where the Bad video was filmed. Unfortunately the exact spot they filmed in is not accessible to the public, but it was still cool to walk around there.
Hayvenhurst is also not that hard to reach, but there's just not much to see there. I just pictured MJ wandering those streets alone at night, like he said he used to during the late 70s/early 80s.

Two platforms have been out of use since 1946 when a line closed down. Because of that it has been used for filming purposes a number of times since, with Bad being the most famous example. Here's some additional information about the station: www.atlasobscura.com/places/hoytschermerhorn-subway-station

MichaelD - what's Gary like to visit? I'd like to see the house. To be honest I didn't stay there too long, probably half a day. It was a very hot summer day in late August (30th I think โ it was said MJ's children have been there the day before for the 29th but I didn't know that beforehand). The city seemed to be a bit died out, not much traffic, no crowded places. What I immediately noticed was that every front garden in the Jackson St. was dried out except the Jacksons house. Sure they have the money to maintain it in some way. I remember Trent or what's his name was there, too that day. Overall it was a nice insight to see the streets and environment with your own eyes, a place you've heard about so much. I was also outside of a disused strip club it's said The Jackson 5 had gigs in in their very early days and many bricks were missing in its walls. Probably taken by fans as some kind of memorabilia, LOL. Yes, that was a bit of a letdwon but nonetheless it was distinctively apparent that this was the BAD station. Why not go ahead posting your photos? If you didn't take any or don't have them at hand I can post some I took in one of an upcoming posts of mine. I can also add Hayvenhurst pics. For this post now I picked other ones though. The Thriller cinema in downtown L.A at night. Last time I've been there the billboard to the right was still(!) the same like in the video. They must've changed it since then. I must find it on another drive and post it, it's a daytime shot. A large portion of the Say, Say, Say video was shot in two locations in Los Alamos, CA. This is the Union hotel. Inside the hotel rooms the scene of MJ and Macca shaving was shot. The bartender told me that even the wallpaper seen in the video is still there, lol. Unfortunately it was occupied so I wasn't able to see it. Other scenes were the stairs where they left the hotel and the front of the building. (Click to enlarge) Half a mile down the road there's a huge hall, the Los Alamos Antiques Depot. Inside this building the stage shots were done. They built the stage at the backend of the hall. Nothing really to see in my photos (except if you take note of the wooden beams at the ceiling). The today's owner knew about the video shoot although he wasn't the owner back then but I guess it was passed from owner to owner. So she could show me where everything was set up. (Click to enlarge)

Oh wow I love the Union hotel photos!
There's something about walking directly in Michael's footsteps that gets under my skin...in a good way. I like how you've obviously spoken to people about Michael at the places you've visited as well. It's nice to think of his legacy living on so strongly in physical locations like that.
Is Gary a safe place? I've heard maybe not so much?
I drove by the Palace theatre twice going round the block but I couldn't find anywhere to park to get out and get some pics. I was scared my rental would get towed so I had my front seat passenger lean out and get a few shots as we crawled past - with some honking behind haha

^^ Thank you. Is Gary a safe place? I've heard maybe not so much? I drove by the Palace theatre twice going round the block but I couldn't find anywhere to park to get out and get some pics. I was scared my rental would get towed so I had my front seat passenger lean out and get a few shots as we crawled past - with some honking behind haha I can't really judge if it's a safe place in general. We didn't feel scared though being there in daytime. But I even walked through Brooklyn or downton LA by foot in the night. You just change the side or walk other ways when you see things/ people you think is better to avoid, lol. Haha, that makes me laugh because I actually got towed the first time I stopped at the Palace cinema. I wasn't even exactly parking in a prohibited parking per se. But it was prohibited within a certain tim gap. My bad, couldn't read the signs properly. To get the car back wasn't that easy as you didn't know which towing company is responsible for that area. Lucky me a nearby businessman could help out. There went my Vegas profit, LOL. It costed around $300 and I made roughly $180 a week ago. Nothing really to see here but this is the Pantages theater where You Are Not Alone was shot in.

Self-explaining. Michael attended this school in 1968 I think, in 1989 the auditorium was renamed in his honour. It's located in 1588 N Gardner St, Los Angeles (close to the Hollywood Blvd).

This is so cool! Was this sign re-instated following his passing? I forget the story. Had no idea it was so close to Hollywood. So annoyed I missed it!

Read a NY Times article about it here. I stand corrected, Michael attended this school from 1969 to 1970 according to this article.
