Janet Jackson who is about to start her “Together Again” Tour, is looking to tell her life story on the small screen.
‘Janet and her team are in talks with writers hoping to find the right one to pen a biopic,’ a source said, adding the Lifetime TV network is reportedly interested.
‘The story would document Janet’s privileged yet difficult beginnings, rise to stardom and her relationship with her brother Michael Jackson. The plan is to make it a mini series and use her music to make the soundtrack.’ the source added.
While Biopic movies are flourishing since “Bohemian Rhapsody” and even the Michael Jackson Estate who will release “Michael” in 2024, a TV series will be a new format unseen since “The Jacksons: An American Dream” mini-series in 1992.
Nothing has been confirmed yet from Janet’s camp but having Lifetime to air the biopic would make sense as they have already done a Janet documentary last year with over 21 million viewers and another documentary coming soon which will be following her on her new tour and celebrating her 50th anniversary in the entertainment world. As previously announced, it is said to also have a big Jackson reunion on one of her Tour dates.
Janet Jackson: Family First is currently filming and will simulcast on Lifetime and A&E, with the release to be announced.
‘I was touched by the love and support from the wonderful fans who enjoyed the documentary last year,’ Janet said in a statement.
‘I am excited to continue to share my story, and welcome fans into my life and the ‘Together Again’ tour. Thank you for your never-ending support, and I hope you enjoy the next chapter,’ she added.
