When he learned that Warner Bros. was making a remake of The Chocolate Factory with director Tim Burton, Michael Jackson undertook his greatest effort to take on the role of Willy Wonka.
Working in secret, he recorded an original score for the film in a small studio in Los Angeles.
"He wanted to play Willy Wonka," explained producer Marc Schaffel. "Michael thought it was the ideal role for him, and intended to use the soundtrack basically as a bribe to get the part." Schaffel attended several meetings at Warner Bros. to discuss the idea. "The executives at Warner Bros. were intrigued and freaked out about the soundtrack, they loved it," he recalls. "But then they came back and said, 'You know, maybe this isn't the ideal marriage for us. But we'd pay anything for the soundtrack.'"
Michael demanded to know why the studio didn't want to give him a chance to play the role of Willy Wonka. "I think Tim Burton wanted Johnny Depp from the beginning," Schaffel said, "but the reason Warners gave when I insisted was that 'we can't have this guy star in a movie for kids. Commercially, it doesn't work.' I had to say that to Michael, and he was very hurt, very sad. He said that those people were ignorant, that they were still talking about those things from 1993."
Warner Bros. told Schaffel that the company would buy Michael's score at whatever price he stipulated, and that they would find him a role in the film โ but it wouldn't be the lead.
"Michael said, 'If I can't get the role of Willy Wonka, then they won't have the soundtrack,' and he basically shelved the songs. It was a shame because he had done an amazing job. I'm sure it would have won an Oscar."

So sad, I would have loved to hear the music somehow. I think him having a side role would have been more realistic, if not making a brief appearance like in men in black. Sometimes he really did have black and white thinking

MJ and the kids saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (along with King Kong, Wallace & Gromit and Harry Potter) at the Seef Mall Movie Theatre in Bahrain in 2005.

Tim Burton has used Danny Elfman in all but 3 of his movies since 1985, and there is no way in hell he was ever going to go with anyone else but Elfman in 2005 for a dark Willy Wonka movie.

Can you imagine them being used if it was remade years down the road? What a special treat for fans!!! I couldn't tbh. You can't score a film effectively without seeing it or being involved in the creating process. Also I don't even think this has been confirmed as fact. Wikipedia isn't reliable.
