in my opinion this is ok for a decreased artist. Michael is no longer alive and if he was i doubt he would still be touring. he was planning to retire after this is it. his sales commonly go up after a release, June 25th, his birthday, and Halloween.
i'm not sure what people are expecting. this isn't the 80's and 90's anymore. most artists those times are decreased or older adults now.

This is why you can't dispute MJ's status as the king of music videos. I have seen some, eg. Madonna fans, trying, but nah, not even close. You can argue about music, there are lots of different tastes and criterias of success, but when it comes to music videos I don't think there's much room for dispute.

At this pace Thriller and Smooth Criminal will also have 1 billion+ views by the end of the year. That's 5 music videos in total with over a billion views. Incredible. No other artist from that era even comes close.

I've noticed lately, MJ lagging behind on the streaming numbers compared to some of his contemporaries. Here are the latest numbers (I tried to include mainly artists who are now seen as primarily legacy acts): 4. Madonna 44.7m After the impact of the Weeknd duet has died down now MJ is back ahead of Madonna again. |
