If you could pick the side of him you like the most, one over the other, which would you choose? I ask this question cause Iโve heard people say they like his music, but not him as a person. In my opinion, his music reflects the person he is very much so, so that statement makes absolutely no sense to me and just speaks to ignorance people internalize from mass media. I think I would have chosen music earlier, but now I choose humanitarian cause Iโm into it as well and learned something from him about empathy and being a caring human being, which we need more of in this world. Plus, Iโm pretty sure he inspired many celebrities to also give back to those less fortunate, but he, along with Elizabeth Taylor, Princess Diana and Madonna did it at a time when very few did so

None of us would be here without the music.

I agree that the two are intertwined.
If I had to choose, I'd go with the musician, even if you look at it purely from a humanitarian perspective. Just think of the positive impact his work has had on people - bringing joy, comfort, and inspiring people in many ways, including to be empathetic and/or do their own humanitarian work. I think in terms of doing a net good to the world, that will always outweigh anything he could have done with his time and money (which as we know is a lot) by a wide margin.

this is a sensitive topic it took a stretch to understand. i think the reason why it cause controversy and division because not everyone believes Humanitarianism.
i agree the media has always been ignorant when it comes to Michael but when it comes to people opinions and beliefs this is where it cause controversy.
i think this why it also cause division in the fan community some fans don't believe in it. some people who work with Michael or friends didn't believe in it either.
as SoCav said i think it was nice what Michael did. i'm a person who believe in helping people and humanity but i'm not a humanitarian. so i would have to choose musician.
do i think Michael humanitarian songs were good? i think they were good. in my opinion the songs did made people help out a little and give to charities but people who are not humanitarians are not going to take from it as much.
that's not to say people who doesn't like the songs doesn't care because that's not true but to be honest some people just don't care. that's the type of world we are living in.
it's sucks but it's the truth.
i remember him saying he never talk about his humanitarian work because he felt people wouldn't care about it. was he wrong?
also shoutout on what you do butterflies2. we need more people like you in this world.

Both. Back in the days he caught my attention with his Earth song. And talking in 92 not only about children but also ecology. But I had my struggle to find my own journey in life so I didn't stop to consider him an interest as an artist. Nowadays I'm happy that he popped up, just when my life was simply turning around with everything. He put himself outhere not only as a consumate artist but as one with a mission, both with music and dance but also as a human being putting his ,,Michael Jackson,, the megastar suit and offering a smile and some comfort to suffering children too. Listen this interview. In some seconds Darryl, one of his background singers, is talking about who Michael was and what he was about. youtu.be/yUTAZ45wbRY?si=Wp1jdMe36srnnqluAround min 50.. His embracing gestures in songs such as Man in the mirror or Heal the world were not only dramatic ones, for the show let's say, nor some ,,Christ complex,, as he was dismissed, but he was hugging the world, offering himself. This gesture is also considered to open the heart chakra. Besides the energy that caught me in an instant when I start to watch his live concerts, I could really feel the love and he really gave me the sensation that he was addressing to the whole world.
