“Invincible” was released on October 30, 2001 and is the final studio album of Michael Jackson.
The song was written by Teddy Riley, JaRon Henson, Tyrese Gibson and Michael Jackson.
But it wasn’t meant to be for “Invincible” but for Tyrese Gibson’s 2001 album of the same name “2000 Watts”.
Tyrese Gibson is mainly known for his acting career appearing in over 30 movies such as the “Fast and Furious” movies, “Transformers” (the first 3 movies) and “Morbius” just to name few. But he is also a singer which started in 1998 with his first album named after himself “Tyrese” and had since released his 7th album “Beautiful Pain” in 2023.
“2000 Watts” is Tyrese’s second album with 15 songs which became double platinum recently.
For the occasion, Tyrese did a small interview but it seems what he remember the most is that Michael Jackson took his song.
“I got in the studio to work with Teddy Riley, who is a long-time collaborator,” Tyrese exclusively shared with The Messenger. “He did ‘Remember the Time’ and a lot of legendary Michael Jackson records and he went to the studio to work and Michael said, ‘Teddy, what have you been working on?’ So, he said, ‘I was just working with Tyrese.'”
According to Tyrese, Riley started playing the King of Pop the title song for the 2000 Watts album. What came next was an unexpected reaction.
“Michael heard it and he told Teddy, ‘I want that song,'” Tyrese shared. “Michael Jackson took my song and put it on his Invincible album. It’s insane. The millions of copies that the Invincible album sold and it’s like ‘2000 Watts‘ is on that and it’s just crazy.”
The song did not end up on Tyrese album but he kept the title.
