Ridiculously overpriced and with no new music? Mental! Yep, just live tracks. I'm only interested in this band if it's releasing the finished cd outtakes lol. There was supposed to be more releasing this year according to Slash but it hasn't happened yet.

Is there any unreleased tracks with Izzy from this time?

As far as I know there is very little when it comes to actual unheard tracks (they used everything they had for the albums), but I'm sure they could have included whatever was left, and some demos of album tracks. Anything, lol. I understand fans have been asking for concert releases for years, but that alone doesn't do it for me personally and am disappointed they have decided to include live tracks only.

I read a few months back about how GNR’s manager negotiated a massive label deal for them at the time by promising to deliver a double album release. Even though many of the tracks that ended up on the two albums they had for years, the other tracks were all the new material they had. So they literally put pretty much everything on the albums. So they released two half decent albums instead of one masterpiece because of negotiations. Sort of a shame that happened even though I sort of love having both those albums and the hype around the double release was quite brilliant. But not even demos? Or alternative vocal takes? It’s a shame.

I'm never the biggest fan of boxset reissues that only contain live performances. The 30th anniversary of Nirvana's Nevermind was last year, and at first it sounded amazing as they were doing a 5CD boxset for it. Well, the 1st CD was just the original album and then the remaining 4 CDs were different shows which was disappointing. I definitely think live performances are a great addition to a boxset, but it can be underwhelming if they're the only thing there y'know? I definitely think it's best when they're combined with unreleased songs, demos and alternative takes too.

It's interesting talking GNR with you lads, as the only other music forum I post on these days is a GNR one. Its interesting observing the differences between the opinions of casual fans such as yourselves and the hardcore nutters on the GNR forums. Most Guns fans I know couldn't care lesss about KOHD and LALD and worship at the altar of songs like Locomotive and Coma. I've always found both covers quite lazy, tacky and pointless. They would both rank in my bottom 5 Illusions era tracks, even though they are good stadium fillers. I guess I feel like that's the only reason they were even recorded and at the risk of sounding pretentious (again) - it just feels like a dumbing down of sorts to me. Whereas Coma and Locomotive are both top 10, possibly even top 5 GNR songs to me. You’re probably right. Coincidentally, I don’t really even rate Dylan’s original version of KOHD. It’s always bored me. When you’re a really big fan of an artist or group that tends to be the case I guess. LALD though I do love the live version from the Illusions World Tour. I remember watching the live broadcast of the Paris concert and just been caught up in the drama of it and Axl belting the vocals and running and jumping around the stage.
