I am watching the 2nd season of Leah Remini's documentary called Scientology and the Aftermath. Season 1 can be watched here: www.dailymotion.com/video/x550m1tI thought Season 2 would be repetitive after this but it isn't. If possible, even more shocking stuff than in Season 1. And here is an interview with the father of David Miscavige (Scientology leader), Ron Miscavige.

Yeah, me too. Season 2 is even more fascinating to me than Season 1.
BTW, there has been a tabloid article yesterday about Priscilla Presley supposedly leaving Scientology but today the church issued a statement that it was not true. Too bad. But I really hope Lisa Marie left as the rumour says. In fact, there are clues of that on her latest album.
ETA: Tony Ortega (a big critic and expert of the Church of Scientology and with insider sources) insists that Priscilla DID leave no matter what the "representative" claims.

Each new episode I got angrier more outraged and disgusted at the abuses committed in the name of Scientology towards regular parishioners, neither Leah Remini nor Paul Haggis nor any other famous celebrity ex member know the full extent of their cruelty and criminality because even the least famous member id treated like royalty compared to normal people.
It's disturbingly outrageous Scientology people brainwashed their members in such a way that it was more important to work for the Sea Org clearing the planet than being a parent leaving their children at the mercy of pedophiles or child torturers, making it more revolting when the fathers were the perpetrators. The Mace-Kingsley camps were like the Sea Org's Hole for "rebel" children who refused to follow Scientology, I cried when I heard that audio of a poor 15 year old being brutally hit with a paddle. It baffles me how they keep to get away with their crimes if they don't have thwt many reach and famous parishioners who give them millions.

The fantastic Louis Theroux (the guy who should have done LWMJ in my opinion) has a Scientology documentary on BBC2 tonight at 9pm, where he meets former members of the religion.

The fantastic Louis Theroux (the guy who should have done LWMJ in my opinion) He did a documentary on MJ and it was crap. Pointless, misleading and just another MJ bashing documentary that was so "in" at the time. Trying to portray him as a pedophile by giving a platform to a ridiculous tabloid whore like Terry George and representing his claims in a one sided manner, among others. That documentary didn't convince me of how he would have been any better than Bashir (seemed to have a similar agenda), nor that he's such a fantastic documentary maker (doc was disjointed, tabloidy and pretty much pointless). Maybe he's better with other topics. But to MJ he wasn't fair.

I've seen season 1 of Leah Remini's show and am now in the middle of season 2. So many tragic stories of lives wasted on and destroyed by this nonsense... Well, that's an interesting point. Are there any reliable estimates (thus, not put out by the Church of Scientology itself) about the number of followers they still have worldwide? I saw this speech by David Miscavige a while ago, at the opening of a new facility in Atlanta. They clearly try to make it look like one of their typical huge, over-the-top events, but later in the video the taper zooms out to reval a ridiculously small crowd. Given that the guy is the Pope of Scientology and does not make that many public appearances, you'd expect many followers to show up. Perhaps it's a sign of their dwindling number of followers? I think in the 9th episode, it they managed to explain how Scientologists were able to have millions of dollars at least a week under their power. I didn't know they ask parrishioners payments in advance for services, courses and levels they hadn't even used and haven't reached either, as well paying the courses, levels for their family members. In conclution, people have to be part of the upper middle class or millioners to afford Scientology, it's a business cult, not a religion. As for respect77 comment, I totally agree. I don't get and I can't get over that when it comes to Michael, the majority of people in the media throw the truth and objectivity out of the window. Theroux has been praised for his documentaries but with Michael, he made another piece of tabloid crap spewing the same bullshit that had no reason to exist.

Maybe he's better with other topics. But to MJ he wasn't fair. The point with Theroux is that he, especially at the time, made documentaries about subcultures - a focus on the weird and strange. That's about the last thing MJ needed. Based on his other work I do think he would have shown more of the human side of MJ and not have been as underhanded as Bashir, but it probably still would have highlighted MJ's eccentricities. In addition to Bashir, David Frost was also looking to do a documentary about MJ. I think he probably would have been the best choice (though, to be honest, I think that was probably the worst time in Michael's life for such a project - he really did not seem to be in a good place). To get back to Scientology: I usually really like Theroux's documentaries, but I was not a fan of his Scientology docu. The whole set-up of creating a film within the documentary did not work for me. Going Clear and Leah Remini's show were much more informative and to the point, in my opinion.

I'm not surprised. With all the information that is available about them now I can't see how they could be very successful in recruiting new members.

If the Going Clear book and documentary opened a lot of people's eyes on how batshit crazy Scientology is, Leah's show will make it dissappear. I don't see it existing in the next 30 years, TBH.

I think some remnants of it may still exist in 30 years, but it will be severly shrinked. I think there are Scientologists who think the ideology is good only Miscavage corrupted it, so I can see it breaking into several smaller branches - esp. after Miscavige's death (or arrest ).

Lads, I've attempted the first 2 hour episode 3 times now and I've not made it through each time. Leah is actually ferociously irritating, and I just found it to be extraordinarily boring. Shame. Loved season 1.
