Everyone knows labels like to the butcher "long" songs on the radio, as we, the masses, do not have the attention span to listen to a song with a running time longer than 4mins30sec. So what is the worst radio edit you have heard?

What they did to the second verse of Earth Song was pretty unforgiveable.

The Purple Rain 7" edit was awful too, fading out right at the start of the guitar solo.

Back in 1992, the Prince single SexyMF was released and became a hit, so stations had to play it, but the song had the word Muthafucka in it and radio stations can not play profanity - so they played 2 edits of it, one where it went "You sexy mutha beep" and then a bad one where it goes "You sexy mutha.. and then Prince's OOOOwwwaaahhhh!!! scream. Once or twice the scream is funny but 3 of 4 choruses of it and it just sounds wrong.

In the chorus she sings "You better work bitch!", but in the clean version it's edited to sound like "You better work work!" and it sounds so wrong.

I seem to recall the TDCAU single version being horrendous, where it just repeats "kick me, kick me", which ruins the rhyme of the next line.

And don't forget the radio friendly version of Scream, where a dub of "Just stop pressurin me" is looped in over the "Just stop FUCKIN with me". 4 letter words are still a hot potato on most commercial stations.

The best thing is, buried deep in the mix are background vocals of MJ saying on a loop "Just stop fuckin with me!" (as I discovered when playing with the leaked multi-tracks some years ago). So technically, even if they took out the prominent 'fuck', he's still saying it in the radio edit

Isn't it just Janet that's saying that? Doesn't sound like MJ is singing it as well last I remember from the multitracks, maybe I'll need to listen to it again.
