Famous or influential people who take advantage of their position of power to sexually abuse others are so abominable and despicable for me to bear. Elvis Presley was a disgusting predator of underage girls and if Michael had been guilty of molestation, I'd have ended up hating him and not listening his music ever again. I don't het how some can still like Gary Glitter, he raped young girls and was convicted of possessing child pornography. Gary Glitter is disgusting. He and Jimmy Saville totally creep me out. Not sure about Elvis though. How do we know that those claims are true? If I remember correctly, Priscilla said that they didn't have sex or anything until she was 18. But I don't know very much about all these cases... I mean with Jimmy Saville, you have hundreds of victims coming out, credible witnesses etc. And Gary Glitter had child porn on his lap top which is definitely enough for me to believe it. Didn't Elvis and Priscillla shack up together when she was 13? No way if they were living together they waited five years to have sex.

Totally, if music is good I will dig it.
Prince has a lot of shade thrown at him, I don't think he was nasty, just wanted some privacy and demanded absolute profressionalism out of his staff and band members. Prince had very high standards and expected people to live up to them, that to me is not being an asshole, even demanding fans send him in bootlegs - I really think he was not happy that other people were making money out of his hard work.
Kanye West - yes, used to love his stuff, but his attitude put me off.
I went off rap in a big way in early 1997 because of sick of the way most of them sung about and degraded women.

They met a while later when she was 14, and during this time Priscilla lived with her parents whilst Elvis stayed with the army at the barracks. Initially the parents refused to let her see Elvis again, but allowed her after seeing her determination and Elvis promising to not return her home late again. Given this, they let her and Elvis see each other regularly until up half a year later when Elvis left West Germany. They didn't see each other again until mid-1962, by which point she was 17, where her and Elvis spent spent a few weeks together in Las Vegas. It was a bit dodgy though, the parents were told they would be going to Los Angeles but instead they secretly went up to Las Vegas. If they were to have sex in Las Vegas at this time, it would've been legal as the age of consent is 16. With her parents permission she moved in with Elvis for good in March 1963, 2 months short of her turning 18. On a similar note, I was reading on about Elvis' marriage to her some years later and this part stood out. Amongst other reasons for marrying her, it seems that Priscilla's father threatened Elvis that if he did not marry her, he would have him charged under the Mann Act - 'taking a minor across state lines for sexual purposes'. Assuming it's true and given Elvis' secrecy about Las Vegas earlier, I'd be surprised if that wasn't his intention. I don't know if they went all the way in Germany but I have very little doubt they didn't in Las Vegas.

I have read some strange things like that he wouldn't sleep with her after she had her first child or that she was even forced to have sex, that he had many affairs with underaged girls while being married etc. Don't know if there is any truth in those claims, it's rather difficult if there is no case or evidence.

Priscilla admitted in her book that even though they didn’t have intercourse, they engaged in other sexual activities during the time she went to live with him while she was still a minor. She said that Elvis would give her drugs to keep her awake and drugs for her to sleep during a period of time when she was living with him but was still in school. She said she realized those pills weren’t good for her health and stopped taking them. That’s definitely inappropriate and illegal, she was a minor when those things went down. Later, there was the story when they were married and Elvis found out she was cheating, she said he raped her.

I read Priscilla's book as well and I remember that story where she says he gave her pills and it knocked her out for days. And this was while she was underage. Elvis definitely did some creepy things, according to that book. I also felt he was very controlling and he hand-picked this very young girl so he could shape her to his taste instead of letting her be who she was. Probably that wasn't the intention of the book, but I didn't care for Elvis based on it. I wonder how LMP feels about that book.

acts being like that ain't nothing new and you have to learn to seperate the art from the person,
most acts are like that and to me its always been best to listen and enjoy the work and avoid the person because you are bound to be disappointed.

You know I'd seperate a few things. I mean, I'm not a religious guy, MAYBE a little bit spiritual. And as I stated in another thread, I'm a huge Prince Fan. So, he became a JW and I don't really see them as a normal religion, I see them as a cult. I've heard and seen enough of them to come to this conclusion. I'd never agree with Prince on that matter, but I still listen to his songs. Because I'm not against his belief system, I just don't agree with the JW. I would stop listening to Prince if he had spit hate speaches on other people's beliefes, skin colors etc. Because this is the one thing I can't tolerate: Intolerance. You wanna be accepted? Fine, but you gotta accept others too. It goes both ways, otherwise there's no equality.
Now, we got a german Singer, he really got a good voice. But he turned out to be a nazi and he's totally homophobic. I can't stand extreme beliefes. I mean, isn't it ridiculous? They say: "I'm spreading God's word." And then they go on a rant because some people are gay? A thing no one has controll over? And even if they could decide it, isn't God's word not that we should love one another? No matter the color, gender, sexuality etc. Because we all are human beings? I can deal with things like NORMAL believe systems, wether it be christians, muslims, jews and even JW" Believe whatever you want, but don't spit false shit about gays, transgenders etc. Because even if I'm not a religious man, I am sure, if god is real, he wouldn't tolerate this hate toward his children. If you treat every human as equal, I buy your music, your books, your drawings, whatever your craft is. But if you go on a rant about one group, I despise you for the rest your life. You don't deserve my money, you don't deserve my time, and you don't deserve the platforms you are given by the people.

^Was Prince, during the peak of his JW phase, really all that different from what you describe though? E.g. Wendy and Bobby Z have said that when they were discussing doing some Revolution reunion gigs in 2000, Prince told them he'd only do it if Wendy and Lisa would publically renounce their homosexuality... He did of course record and appear with them later on again.

Yeah Wendy said Prince didn't want to perform with them at a show in the early 2000s because they were gay. Apparently Prince had his zealous phase but he did lighten up later on and they made their peace.
Religion can do that to people even if judgementalness isn't natural for them. I think even MJ made a comment in an interview in the early 1980s that homosexuality was a sin, which obviously comes from JW teachings, but he too eased up on it later.
