Every so often, a new act comes along with a debut so bloody fantastic you wonder where it came from. Sometimes it ends up being their best album.
What's that expression? 'You get 10 years to make your first album, and ten months to make your second'.
Here's a few stunning ones I can think of...
Terence Trent D'arby - Introducing the Hardline... Guns 'n' Roses - Appetite for Destruction The Killers - Hot Fuss The Fratellis - Costello Music

Damn you beat me to TTD - that album is awesome and look at what it starts with...
Brown Sugar - D'Angelo The Doors - The Doors Are you Experienced - The Jimi Hendrix Experience Off the Wall - Michael Jackson (Well adult Michael, quite a few have never heard of Motown solo MJ, but Got to be there is decent) Ready to Die - Notorious B.I.G. Faith - George Michael (1st as a solo act) Whitney Houston - Whitney Houston The Time - The Time Doggystyle - Snoop Doggy Dogg Straight outta Compton - NWA
Not so crazy about the rap ones now - but they were awesome and absolute game changers when they dropped.
Take the heat off me - Boney M Kissing to be clever - Culture Club Madonna the first album - Madonna She's so unusual - Cyndi Lauper

Appetite For Destruction isn't so much a debut album as it is a Greatest Hits. It's like the rock equivalent of the Bad album. How are you getting on with Chinese Democracy Tony? I saw it in the poundshop the other day (always a shining endorsement) and thought about buying it for you. Before you say anything smart, it was sat next to pretty much Madonna's entire back catalogue.

Jumping in on a modern note, I quite enjoyed Harry Styles' solo debut earlier this year. Looking forward to seeing where he goes in the future.
