Scott is one of my favourite lead singers and frontmen in rock and is the celebrity death that has lingered with me the most, after MJ.
Everything he touched turned to gold imo, from his work in Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver to his underrated solo albums and his brilliant album with rock supergroup Art of Anarchy.
The guys vocal deliveries were so diverse, he was just at home channelling David Bowie as he was embracing the Seattle Grunge roots of his early material with Stone Temple Pilots.
To me, he leaves guys like Kurt Cobain dead in the water.
Check out some of these songs:
A beautiful song from his final solo album:
This is Scott using his "Bowie" voice, with a few Bowie nods in the lyrics also:
My favourite Velvet Revolver song, written about the victims on the plane that crashed into the World Trade Centre on 9/11. Really moving lyrics and featuring some of Slash's most soulful guitar playing ever:
One of Stone Temple Pilots best songs:
A fantastic track from the final album he released, with rock supergroup Art of Anarchy:

I like Scott Weiland a lot. He was a very sad figure - with his early death and battles with drugs and depression. I always felt he was a troubled soul, so often when I listen to his music I feel a tinge of sadness.
He was very talented. I can't say I am a "massive" fan (because I don't own everything he has done) but I do have a fair chunk of his stuff on my iPod. I think he has a wonderful voice, actually very really unique. Very sad that he is gone. He had so much more to offer.

Stone Temple Pilots were a good band back in the 90s. Never got into Velvet Revolver though.
