I finally heard the original version of 'Blame It on the Boogie' last year on YouTube. I bet those guys were REALLY glad the Jacksons recorded their song. They made big money!! There are a lot of great songs on Destiny, but I think 'BIOTB' is great too.

It's from Destiny, not Triumph. Potato, po-ta-to...

Personally, I love the song. I am still in a State Of Shock at this thread.

I feel getting a fact wrong is excusable, an opinion such as Invincible is better than Bad is the real heinous crime.

Yeah I feel like Things I Do For You is one of the best songs on Destiny, and radio stations here hardly ever play it. But I love Blame It On The Boogie too much to call it overrated π I am glad you brought up TIDFY. I LOVE that song and I feel so alone with that. LOL. I mean no one ever mentions it among their favourite songs - not even in the fandom. I think it is a criminally underrated song.

The Destiny album is underrated in general imo.

^^^ Destiny is an incredible album, probably my favourite Jacksons record. So many great songs, Push Me Away, That's What You Get For Being Polite, Things I Do For You, Shake Your Body, Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, Can You Feel It...
Don't you agree, Tony?

its not bad and finger snappy catchy, however if the Osmonds did it and performed it on Hee Haw then it would go over way bigger.
its the kind of song where the Powers that Be want something accessible and since the previous two Jacksons albums didn;t exactly burn up the charts i can understand.
hi8ndsight then didn't know that the Destiny album was gonna do said business.

Yes, because it is played to death and other songs on Destiny are so much better. It was a massive hit in New Zealand and thus was played to death on the radio here. It even appeared on our version of King of Pop.
It is a decent enough song, but suffers from overplaying as New Zealande for some reason got massively obsessed with disco music between 1976 and well into the 1980s. Disco died in 1979, but in New Zealand it died in 1983. Disco ruled the charts at the time, with our biggest ever single here was Boney M's rivers of Babylon which spent 15 weeks at number one in 1978. Mostly the disco was sper commercialised stuff or Eurodisco rather than quality underground funk disco. Still they got some things right - Prince's I wanna be your lover got to #3 here and itwas the songs highest placing on any national pop chart in the world. On the other hand the dreadful Hands Up by Martiniquan froggies - Ottawan spent 7 weeks at number 1 in 1982!!!
But yeah, 90% of the time if they play Jacksons or Jackson 5 music it is this or ABC for some reason.
I consider the J5's first four hits all overplayed and I am tired of too - I want you back, ABC, the love you save and I'll be there. Mostly I start listening to my J5 greatest hits at Mama's Pearl.
