It pisses the hell out of me some fans consider Speed Demon a filler, Michael took funk to a complete different level taking it to the future. It's a futuristic industrial funk perfection.

Also because of Speed Demon I learned "boy" is a racist term to refer to black servants and that line, "pull over boy and get your ticket right" was based on an encounter Michael had with a white policeman. I apologize for my past ignorance but I genuinly thought he meant boy as a lad, young man, etc and never crossed my mind during my childhood and teenage years it's also a derogatory, racist word.

Holy shit, I never realised this.

It’s the second weakest track on Bad and one of only two songs on that album that isn’t a solid 9-10/10.

I can't imagine an album where every song is a mega hit, and I can get tired of the biggest hits very quickly. When I have listened to Man In The Mirror, Dirty Diana etc enough, I'm glad there are songs like Speed Demon or Just Good Friends that are inferior but still totally interesting

I think, in fact, I know I'd say that Speed Demon is better than any track on Invincible.

I think, in fact, I know I'd say that Speed Demon is better than any track on Invincible. Comments like this are just as crazy and outlandish as me saying that Invincible is a better album than Bad. I think Tony likes to bait me, as I do him. I would kill Tony, but I don't believe he genuinely means it. Not in all seriousness. Speed Demon better than Whatever Happens? Speechless? Unbreakable? Threatened? Butterflies? Bless you Tony for trying, but I'm not falling for it.

I always wondered how this would have sounded live, sadly MJ never performed it.
I like this cover:

He never performed it, but apparently it was rehearesed during the Bad Tour according to Christopher Currell - He wrote about it in 2015: "We spent the time rehearsing the new songs and going over details. Michael was to join us in about a week but he did not show up. The band had the songs rehearsed well. We had some time to kill so we rehearsed Speed Demon. It sounded great! We hoped Michael would like it and want to perform it." Check the article, it's quite an informative read. headphone.guru/the-event-horizon-synclavier-music-and-michael-jackson-part-4/
