I've only seen two thirds of the best picture nominees so far so I'm mostly reserving judgement at this stage.
However I will say I was bowled over by Timothee Chalamet's performance in Call Me By Your Name. A revelation this year.
The tech awards look like Dunkirk vs Blade Runner vs Star Wars - I'm hoping for Dunkirk in that fight.
Disappointed in Darkest Hour. Wasn't impressed by the film and felt Oldman's portrayal was a competent impersonation, but not a great deal else. At least not what I'd look for in an acting performance.

I'm just so pleased to see horror film, Get Out, receive an Oscar nomination. Horror can produce some fantastic films and yet usually gets ignored as a genre, time and time again. I loved Get Out. It deserves recognition.

I only saw Get Out (I thought it was overrated). I will need to check out the rest.

I'm just so pleased to see horror film, Get Out, receive an Oscar nomination. Horror can produce some fantastic films and yet usually gets ignored as a genre, time and time again. I loved Get Out. It deserves recognition. Me too! Horror and comedy are always criminally overlooked at awards shows. I'm a bit disappointed that It wasn't nominated at all, that was such a beautiful film that took you on a rollercoaster from scary to funny to dramatic. Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise is incredible. I haven't seen most of the Best Picture nominations yet but I'll definitely check them out. The Post seems kinda boring from what I've see and heard but I guess their nomination was a given with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks as lead actors. The Shape of Water sounds interesting - so far I've loved almost every movie Guillermo Del Toro has directed.
