So as predicted in January, Smooth Criminal (the long version) just surpassed 400 million views on YouTube (well before the year ended). It progressed from 300 million to 400 million views quicker than any other MJ music video on the main channel (in 233 days). But the real kicker is that according to its page on Kworb.net, in 162 days (or next February) or thereabouts, at the current rate of viewership (500,000 to 600,000 views a day, sometimes even higher), it will reach 500 million views (or half a billion views). Mind blown.

Probably SC would be one of his most popular videos, but I think there was some glitch with it initially. I remember there was a fan uploaded version that had views in the 100s of millions, but on the official channel it was either not there (the long version) or was somehow hidden. (I know Dirty Diana was only available in the US for a long time before they modified the settings. There was something with SC as well.) The fan uploaded version is nowhere now, so I guess they got it deleted and now the one on the official channel is getting all the views. It's his most viewed video on a weekly basis so it makes sense slowly it would catch up.

What bugs me, is that I am assuming that Spotify is driving a lot of these streams/sales and it's the US version of the album that is on Spotify.

Blood on the Dance Floor is eternally shafted.
