What is the worst concert you guys have ever been too. Can be any musical artist, no matter how famous or infamous they are. Or even concerts, musical get togethers, poetry slams, coffee bar guitar hippies, rap clubs, night clubs, pubs - whatever as long as it was live music of some description.
Would prefer known performers rather than some local hippy act down the road or some guy world famous in Waterbury Conn or something.
Mine was a NZ hippie singer called Paula Ubana Jones who did a sit down gig at a Pub in Dunedin back in 1996 with a guitar selection of 1960s Bob Dylan songs. Jones was a half Nigerian (Hence the name Ubana) and half English folk singer who is about 6foot 4, 5 feet wide and has a ginormous afro. Being a mulatto he is only the same colour as a Maori, and besides the afro does not look very Black. However he is an intimidating physical presence.
In the middle of his songs, all of which were just awful - think whiny she done me wrong songs amongst the Dylan covers, some kid starts talking (We were all like underage snotty nose kids sitting around) and Ubana goes nuts yelling at him and telling him to sit the fXXk down and other shit. The gig was free entrance, one drink minimum and being 19, mine was a coke. Well the boy is scared silent, but everyone gets up and leave Ubana Jones and some guys tip their drinks over him.
Last I heard, Paul Ubana Jones is about 60 now and still on the folkie trail, playing most local events and community fairs, he was never a big stgar but recorded a couple of albums.
Worst show by an artist, you guys may have heard of - Cher 2005 it was alright, but a very rehearsed show, no audience interaction, lots of lypsynching and crowd pleasing favourites like Believe. Cher was okay but the venue was bad, a muddy league stadium and plastic chairs all tied together. I am a big boy so it was a TIGHT squeeze, plus the programmes were like $40 and we were squeezed in like sardines 200m from Ms Sarkasian Lapierre.
