Strictly for us Prince ethusiasts only - What are your favourite eras of the Purple One. I have separated his career into 11 phases and are letting you all vote for up to 7 of them (You can vote less if u want).
This comes in response to the question on his 90s albums. Even those can be divided into phases. For those not 100% on what happened in each era. Brief synopsis
1. Early beginnings (70s)- all the demos, work with school bands, For You and Prince albums
2. Sexy Funkstar (1980 - 82) - The albums Dirty Mind and Controversy, his work with the Time and Vanity 6 (First albums of both) (Not 1999 though), this and all later eras also include his live shows, bootlegs and unreleased works.
3. Glorious era (1982 - 85) - 1999, Purple Rain and ATWAID era, live shows, Time(What time is it and ICC) and Apollonis 6, The Family -
4. Genius era (1986 - 1988), Parade, SOTT, Lovesexy, Black album, his bands and tours, Unreleased stuff like Crystal Ball and Dream factory, Jill Jones, Sheila E etc.
5. New Directions - Batman, GB, Nude Tour, Ingrid Chavez, Martika etc
6. Classic NPG - Dand P, Symbol, the Hits, Goldnigga -
7. Days of Wild, Beautiful experience, Come, TGE, C&D, Emancipation, Mayte - Exodus all that funky mid 90s stuff
8. Late 90s rebirth - Love 4 one another, Newpowersoul, Rave, Truth etc
9. Funky Fundamentals - TRC era, NEWS, One nite alone, NPGMC albums, Xpectation, etc
10. Genius Returns - Albums from Musicology to 20Ten era and all appearances, Tamar, Bria etc
11. Experimental - One off singles like R and R love affair, Welcome Tours, 3rd eye girl, Liveoutloud, growing the Afro
12. Funk Legend - The last 4 albums, the Piano and Microphone tour, Hitn run Project, Judith hill etc
