I really don't understand why the Estate are holding off from releasing more of MJs unreleased music. Its a complete fallacy that they don't have much left, as fans know about the existence of many titles that have yet to be heard.
Songs like Faces, Can't Get Your Weight Off Me, Pressure, Cheater 2001, Angel, Men In Black, Chicago 1945, I Have This Dream, Joy, Fear, Pain... we all know they exist, so what are they holding.back for?

I have my own personal thoughts on this.
I think they are waiting for the Robson case to die a death. They know that any big MJ releases will be sabotaged by Robsons lawyers and their smear campaign, which is exactly what happened the week before Xscape came out.

Didn't Branca say they had no plans to release any more unreleased music from MJ? I guess as long as they're still making a mint from Cirque De Soleil and licensing MJs music to Halloween cartoons, then they don't care what the fans want. As long as the moneys still coming in. Ugh.

It could be to do with Robson/Safechuck as has been said. However, Chicago 1945 probably won't ever see the light of day. That is unless the Estate allow it to be released in its current guise, as Steve Porcaro doesn't want it to be comtemporised.

Or am I getting mixed up?

Ugh. You're missing a key part of what he said. He said these have no plans to release any *soon*. Further unreleased music will come out, we're just not going to get it right now. There's no need to rush. They only have so many releasable songs left and they have to think about projects in the long term. They've been very generous with previously in released material so far, we get a lot more new music than most other dead artists fans get. It's not just about what the current fans want. It's about helping keeping Michael's legacy alive and appealing to new fans too. The music he released throughout his career will of course be the main factor in this, but evidently the Estate are creating new projects based around this material to get it to new fans in different ways - be it theatrical performances by Cirque du Soleil, or television specials for children.

I agree with HIStoric. I think they just don't want to keep some for future releases, not use up everything within 10 years of his death.

To be honest, they have done such a terrible job with his previous two posthumous albums, I've lost all hope in releases from the estate.
The only project they handled with respect and reverence to MJ was Bad 25 and even that had a Pitbull remix on it.

Of course they are going to release more music. I don't believe that Branca quote for one second. They're just stalling and biding time waiting for this Robson ish to blow over.

I think they're more focused on getting the Quincy lawsuit settled and doing projects like Thriller 3D and the Halloween special. Wouldn't shock me if that Halloween special becomes a regular broadcast thing on CBS for a few years either, similar to how ABC airs the Charlie Brown specials here in the states every year.

I think it's the right decision by Branca.
