Some of the lyrics are awful too though. I love the music. Turner has a new stupid accent though. Yeah, that's why I said some lyrics are quite good, as some are not so good. I'm trying to look for positives. Whats your take on it? Yeah the accent. Whats that about?! I actually posted like 4 seconds before you did a few mins ago, look above there for my 2 cents Turner playing a character Id say... Sounds like a bigger prick than the persona he took on for AM! |

I dont hate it, but its a serious misstep. Turners voice is a bit unbearable at times, but definitely not as bad as what id read. The album needed 1 belter of a single, and 1 transition song that had the DNA of AM and it has neither. Its like Bowie going from Diamond Dogs to Young Americans. Rock to Plastic Soul. He had 2 huge hits on the album making the transition less abrasive to fans. All in all, not bad, but not amazing. Its so so far from the quality of AM its unreal. Great summation! It's more Alex Turner than AM's. |

I dont hate it, but its a serious misstep. Turners voice is a bit unbearable at times, but definitely not as bad as what id read. The album needed 1 belter of a single, and 1 transition song that had the DNA of AM and it has neither. Its like Bowie going from Diamond Dogs to Young Americans. Rock to Plastic Soul. He had 2 huge hits on the album making the transition less abrasive to fans. All in all, not bad, but not amazing. Its so so far from the quality of AM its unreal. Great summation! It's more Alex Turner than AM's. Yeah, thats what it seems to be. Its very much an album you could put on after bringing a bird back though. This i will never be able to confirm due to my romantic disabilities. |

I thought it would be 5 stars across the board. I mean, it is interesting in a sort of Bowie way like you mentioned, and possibly one of those albums that after repeated listens it just clicks. Maybe I'll give it another spin over the weekend. It feels like a late-night album to me. |

He wrote all the songs on the piano and brought them to the band. So that's probably why it feels more like a solo project. His singing accent has been like that since AM, just doing a more relaxed delivery on this album. I still really like it, haha.
