I follow the occasional modern artist if something takes my interest. For example I really loved Starboy by The Weeknd, and think that he is one of the more interesting modern music acts on the scene.
But as a general rule, most of what I listen to is from the 80s/90s and I find most modern chart music to be absolute garbage.

And people my age don't get why I don't listen to Minaj,Bieber,Sheeran etc. I think there are still very talented artists out there (usually the not so popular ones) but I really prefer music from the fifties to the nineties.

Very, very rarely. I hear the odd song that will pique my interest, but I personally feel modern day music doesn't hold a candle to the classics of yesteryear.

I find contemporary music boring and overproduced for the most part. Repetitive lyrics, not enough (raw) vocals and loud and rehashed beats. The only current music artists I listen to are Janelle Monáe, Bruno Mars and the Weekend.
I listen mostly to music from the 1970s to the 1990s.

Yep, sure do!
I like music from all time periods '50s and onwards (although I do have the odd '30s/'40s song in my iTunes).

Rarely. Only if I have my music TV play in the background.

Honestly I try to listen to the radio just keep convincing myself that something/someone great will come along. All I do is switch the channels until I get fed up and go back to my MJ CDs. If I do like something ill add it to my spotify playlist, which includes mostly songs from the 80s and 90s. But I'm having a really hard listening to current music.

I just find it hard to get into. All the pretty girl pop is vacuous and dumb. So many songs rely on sounds and loops/sampling and so called Producers and featured artists. I have never liked pop rock or pop metal and shit hop is dreadful.
If I listen to newish music, it is by a classic artist like Madonna or recently deceased Prince or Bowie.

None of the modern artists really have the talent or staying power of people like Michael Jackson, David Bowie or Prince. All of todays big time artists are talentless hacks (Taylor Swift, all her music is about bad relationships and generic country). Katy Perry and Lady Gaga may look visually exciting, but the music is not much.
For a while I saw something in Bruno Mars and Kanye West, but that promise is gone. Beyonce, Jay Z and Rihanna are all severely overrate dand once you take away all the hype, they are average singers and dancers.
However I am not a fan but I do respect Adele, as she has vocal talent, can write good songs and shows some real humility. Another artist who I kind of respect is Michael Kiwanuka.

I'm probably too old for this shit, LOL, but does anyone get the hype about Taylor Swifts new song? It's such a crappy song and it's breaking records. Or is it just that anything sells with her name on it?

No, not really. A lot of it gives me a headache and I can't tolerate it much. I'm very old school with pop culture and mostly listen to music from before the year 2000. I am a 90's kid, so 80's and 90's music was the soundtrack to my life back in the day. 60's and 70's was also familiar because my of parents, and I've recently taken a liking to some 50's music in the past couple years. I'm probably too old for this shit, LOL, but does anyone get the hype about Taylor Swifts new song? It's such a crappy song and it's breaking records. Or is it just that anything sells with her name on it? Taylor Swift has always been terrible, so her success is a head scratcher for me too. However, she has an excellent PR team, so I think that helps her tremendously. Her fanbase is a very devoted one as well, so they probably buy the songs and albums 10 times over.

Very occasionally, and it's normally rock rather than pop.
I don't mind, I have fifty years of great stuff.
