You know them, you love them - the masters of Black bubblegum music the Jackson 5.
Here are their original studio albums from 1969 to 1975 (No greatest hits or later Motown reissues).
What are your favourites. As I know some of the later ones are obscure, you can choose UP TO 4 albums.
As a help the following hit singles came off the albums.
Diana Ross Presents - I want you back, Whose loving you ABC - ABC, the love you save Christmas Album - I saw mommy kissing santa claus (A #1 smash in NZ) Third Album - I'll be there, Mama's pearl Maybe tommorrow - Never can say goodbye, Sugar Daddy Lookin through the windows - Title Track, Doctor my eyes Skywriter - Title Track, Corner of the sky? Even I have not heard this one Get it together - Title track and Dancing Machine Dancing Machine, Title track and I am Love Pt 1 and 2 Moving Violation - Title track and Forever came today.
Mine are 1. Third Album - great songs here 2. ABC - Solid 3. Diana Ross - Lots of solid show tunes and Stand on this one, early Michale sounds great and more raw 4. Dancing Machine - A lot of catchy funk on this one and I am Love which is beautiful.

G.I.T. and Dancing Machine are both very underrated albums, and better than many of the The Jacksons albums that followed, until Destiny came out and the brothers took things to the next level.
But The Jackson 5 Live In Japan is my favourite J5 release. I love it! It's honest, 100% live and the band is tight and the whole thing feels very intimate.
Mike's voice was starting to change, but they're still pulling off all the songs I love; "Looking Through The Windows", "Got To Be There", etc. Jermaine sounds great also on his songs and it's great to hear Michael singing background vocals too, especially on "Daddy's Home".

Their best album is G.I.T. IMO. I agree it is very underrated because it doesn't have the big classic hits, but it is a lot more cohesive material than their previous albums and works better as an album. The title track is one of my top 3 Jackson 5 songs, definitely. Probably Top 2 (the other song being Who's Loving You)
My other fave from the album is:

I do think fans need to own all The Jacksons albums though.

I do think fans need to own all The Jacksons albums though. That Soulstation boxset pretty much contains everything I would need also from the J5 albums. From there I would go with Michael Jackson The Motown Solo Collection and the J5 Live at The Forum double album. I've considered buying The Complete Motown Album Collection boxset at various points and might do at some point but I already own most of those albums and I've never really returned to most of them, although I do find there's a certain charm to their earliest albums such as Diana Ross Presents, ABC, Third Album and the Christmas album. I do feel the further they went at Motown the weaker their albums became. Perhaps in part because they became less of a priority and stopped having hits. The Soulstation boxset would also make an ideal starting point for new fans. The Jackson's albums however is where things go next level. Destiny and Triumph are consistent and solid throughout. Even Victory is really good.

I used to own the Complete Motown Albums boxset, but I sold it after having owned it for several years and not once listening to it.
TBH, I sort of begrudge those fans who act holier than thou towards those of us who don't know every album track he did from the J5 days. At the end of the day, that stuff is worlds apart from the artist MJ went onto become. I'm not saying he wasn't an incredible singer back then, his talent was evident from day one, but in terms of the material he sang, it became a lot more interesting once he started to get a bit of creative control, from Destiny onwards.

Oh I totally agree with you. Young MJ was an incredible performer but so much of the Motown album material is very bland. The Soulstation boxset contains all the very best! Some stonewall classics on it. π

Dancing Machine and the first 3 albums seem to be the big winners here, with some love for Get it together.
Sorry for all the polls guys, I just love quadratics and numbers I guess, I have a master plan to gather all the biggest tracks off the album polls and do a final poll for us to pick the best of the best.
I have a couple to go, one will the best greatest hits type albums - could be hard given the numbers of them, but will stick to the main ones.
