What are your favourite Prince studio albums up to Lovesexy. You can choose 4 and then explain your choices if you like. Please Haters of Prince and non fans, please troll or complain about the proliferation of Prince fans somewhere else. There is a large contingent of Prince fans here and we love to discuss him. PS: Prince the Musical god, not Prince Jackson or Michael Prince   I have also included all the Protege and Satellite albums, in which Prince wrote all of the music and has the copyrights, and also included albums by Madhouse a band in which Prince was the writer, and a member who played in it. Some of these albums, he disguised his involvement and used pseudonyms like Jamie Starr and Joey Coco. I have excluded albums like Sheila E's third album, in which Prince only wrote some of the tracks or albums by artists with one or two Prince written tracks only like Mazarati's and Andre Cymone's AC. I feel 6 albums is a generous number and hopefully, we will get some choices here. |

Have chosen What time is it by the Time as it is so funky and so well done.
My other 5 choices are all classic Prince albums in this order.
1. Sign o the Times - Just godlike in every way
2. 1999 - Experimental and funky, an amazing break through
3. Parade -Breezy pop with a gallic and also funky influence
4. Purple Rain - The Rock music behemoth that made him a legend and gave Michael Jackson a reason to be scared, the Monique heart next to his Monet X Change (Drag Race reference)
5. Lovesexy - A spiritual dance storm par excellence, with some of the creamiest and coolest music ever written.

How many Michael Jackson threads are there on Prince.org? Asking for a friend. A lot actually. Up until a few months back, there was one big sticky thread and you weren't even allowed to even start a topic about MJ, as the Off Topic Music forum was practically an MJ board. |

Those first two Time albums and The Family record are undoubtedly some of his best work, and amongst my favourite records of the 80s.
I often wished he'd kept some of those songs on The Family album for himself. Parade was a patchy, inconsistent album and could've really benefited from the inclusion of songs like Desire, Mutiny, High Fashion and Screams of Passion. I can't help but feel as if he spread himself a little too thinly at times.

Matty is right,until mid 2017 they restricted it to one as before 2011 there was like 10 or 20 MJ threads going at once on the org and then after enough time since his death, they had to restrict them. Now its a free for all. I say share the love, liking Prince or MJ is great, but liking both of them is better. You pretty much cover the waterfront in popular and funky music. Imagine a mash up called Marince. Glad to see the Family is getting some love too, that is an awesome album but not awesome enough for my Top 6. I can't state the org now as my 3rd incarnation has been banned and I need a new computer before I start my 4th incarnation there. Also there are like 4 Prince threads here and 3 Madonna ones on a section of this board with at least 50 other non Prince or Madonna threads. There is at least 500 Michael Jackson ones. If you compare all the Michael Jackson content on this forum, even in this part as many of us bring him up here in relation to other artists - I am sure it is not being hijacked by Prince. There is probably more Prince Jackson than Prince Rogers Nelson on this site |

I can't help but feel as if he spread himself a little too thinly at times. Good point, but I blame St Paul's lacklustre voice and Susannah was there mainly as she was Prince's girlfriend. The songs themselves stand above their interpretation and now we are hearing Prince versions on the Bootlegs and the released Prince version of Nothing Compares 2 U, it is easy to see the magic Prince intended from them. The only thing Prince needed was some better singers than St Paul and Susannah. |

Gawd this one is soooo hard. I've not heard most of the protege/side projects so I'm sticking with Prince branded albums for now. And even then it's still difficult. I really like the Apollonia and Vanity albums alot, and I'm embarrassed to say I've still not heard The Time albums. I've been a fan now for roughly 10 years and I'm still exploring his main body of work but I really do need to seek out more of the side projects and the boots.

For anti semitic remars, well they alleged anti semitic, when I linked Michael Todd Schulenberg, Arnold Klein and a few others as Jewish career wreckers for Blacks along with the Jewish gossip agenda in the media (TMZ is owned by Lionel Rothschild and many of the staff are Jewish like Diane Diamond). Not my finest moment by far, but the fact I have Jewish ancestry meant nothing. I had also been wanred for questioning Black lives matter and questioning Black activism of the actions of Police over Michael Brown. There are a lot of angry systas on that site who take no questioning by so called whites and gays. Prince.org is very Black now and not that welcoming to non Blacks anymore. There are also a lot of Lipstick alley types and they were waiting for my final slip up to get rid of me. |
