Often feel like I can appear abrasive or something when I'm not actually like that.

Twitter is a cesspit.
Just seen a thread about Kylie Jenner who apparently hasn't paid her Bangladeshi workforce (like she's responding for doing that). Whether it's true or not doesn't seem to matter but the original post is asking people "cyber bully the fuck out of her".
It's got hundreds of thousands of likes and the comments are vitriolic. With nobody knowing the facts.
It really is the worst side of human nature. As much as I wish MJ was still around, I'm glad he missed the social media trials era.

I've actually stopped using it, as in Tweeting. I sure as hell couldn't care less what people's opinions are that I'll never meet. The loudest people have ruined it. I'm on a constant unfollow spree now just to wind down to Music, films, Sport etc. that I'd like info on. I'll check the news for news. Everyone thinks they're the news now, or a philosopher or a beacon of hope and justice. Nah man. Let me know when a song is leaked, when an actor signs on for a role in a film I like and when someone gets injured in soccer. Thats my 2 cents. JK Rowling being the devil, white supremecy, Trump, Statues. Ive had enough myself, and thankfully I can block it!

I can actually see why people who spend a lot of time online get mental health issues. You can drown in threads and I see people who just cannot help responding & ending up in a spew of vile hatred with someone who they don't even know but they disagree over the slightest of things. They may even agree on 99% of things but descent into this cycle about this one thing. Reminds me of Triumph when he was on here, it didn't matter if you agreed with him or not, he'd find the one thing & hanker down on it. Like you, I'm only checking for good stuff but all the horrible stuff still comes to the fore. Shite finds a way.

I think sisnce Twitter started showing you what other people like has been the downfall of it for me. It started with LN. I was ignoring all the shit being said by, literally, trolls. Then my feed was absolutely filled with tweets liked and responses to trolls, or people who believe MJ is guilty. I had to do some serious muting and unfollowing over that. It was 70% of my feed. Now its 80% of "look what this guy did over here, lets get where he works and kill his wife" kind of shit. If someone tweets at me, fine. But Twitter eventually became one big greatest hits of everyones feed that I didnt even have one that had any tweets from anyone I followed! I've said for the past few years, Twitter is basically the Penfield Mood Organ from Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. YOU decide what mood you are in/want to be in and you zone in on that. If you are annoyed, you let Twitter dictate what you react to. If you are in good form, the same. People decide themselves what they want to look up. It's a whole mess. People aren't clever enough to handle the idea that everyone is entitled to their opinion when it's written down.

I can't quite work out why people type in a different way to how they speak. These people wouldn't say to people's face the hatred they spew. If anything Twitter should be a nicer place, you have the breathing time to take a second, delete & amend what you're written before pressing send. The magnificent Ricky Gervais sums it up in this perfect minute.

One thing that has come about from lockdown is a shift in perspectives. I've gone from craving trips away, concerts, expensive guitars, to craving much simpler things like going out for a bite to eat with my wife and son or going for a swim.
Funny how much you take the little things for granted when they're at your fingertips.
