So, looks like she's putting on a FANTASTIC setlist. I'll have to check her out. Hopefully theres an Irish date. I saw Janet, Michael and Madonna live at their peak in 1992/3 and Janet held her own. Come to think of it, all three did that....

What exactly is this tour? Does Janet simply pick up a few dates here and there as she goes about her daily life? This “tour” has been going on for about ten years! 😳

This “tour” has been going on for about ten years! 😳 I think it's been pretty thrown together because she/the promoters don't really know whether or not there's demand for her in a given area. They were sporadically adding US dates during the first leg of the tour, and now that it's gone international, I imagine they're still trying to see what's up or down. She's in Japan now. If she is going to tour Europe, than I imagine she'll have to settle for touring theatres/amphitheatres instead of Arenas. She's never been as popular there as in the US, but that's good for the die hard fans since it'll probably be a bit cheaper.

I saw Chris Tucker last year in the Manchester Appollo and would love to watch a Janet concert there. Yeah, her career seems to have become very stop-start and disjointed. And then her setlists are always full of the really old hits. Can't really complain about her performing her best tracks though I guess. It's not a bad thing is it. I'll have to go see her if she comes here. Would be a great nostalgic night hearing the stuff from RN, Janet and TVR.

Did anyone catch the Glastonbury set?
One massive megamix of hits. Pretty, pretty good.
Slight nod to the Jacksons at the end.

I didnt catch it, but I did see her trending and getting roasted on Twitter for miming. These folks are obviously unaware that Janet has always mimed during her concerts. To be honest, I don't really think Glastonbury was a good idea for an artist like Janet. Also saw a tweet from one Glastonbury attendee who reported that an absolutely vile crowd chant was taking place during her set. I don't even need to tell you what it was, I'm sure you can guess.... Sigh

Sigh That tweet is clearly bullshit! Was her set THAT bad? Dolly mimed a few years ago and people didn't mind. Im reading Janets vocals were low in the mix?

Haha the irony of her saying "I want you to sing along with me". So I watched a handful of clips that are available right now and there were clips where she was dancing around (Rhythm Nation and another song), and some where she's basically just standing around, walking to the sides a bit. I think in the first instance, I can understand and tolerate lipsyncing, but in the second instance? Honestly as a professional singer and entertainer, she really doesn't have much excuse to not sing live in those instances, and I think it's made worse by the fact that she actually fucked up the lipsync at times too (in one clip I watched, she started miming a good second or two before the vocals came on). So yeah honestly, I think people have every right to criticise her performance - especially when I imagine most artists there are singing live.
Granted, her voice did sound like it was mixed lower, which definitely didn't help her case.

Sigh Yeah I saw one account tweeted that, but nobody else was talking about it. Not sure if that was supposed to be a form of satire or what - I'm sure the media would have run with it if it was true.

Granted, her voice did sound like it was mixed lower, which definitely didn't help her case. She should never have been booked. Janet has never sang live at her concerts, she wasn't going to suddenly make an exception for the first time in a 30yr career because she was playing Glastonbury. Trouble is, she's American and probably doesn't know anything about Glastonbury and its history. R&B acts have always been a controversial choice for Glastonbury bookings. Remember the hoopla about Jay-Z headlining a few years back? The kind of demographic that attends Glastonbury is not the kind that buys Janet Jackson records. Many Tweets were complaining that they didn't know any of the songs, which tells you all you need to know about why she never should've played there. It beggars belief that supposed industry professionals make these kind of strange bookings (both JJ's management and Glastonbury), when it was blatantly obvious that it was going to be a disaster from the get go. These people obviously just chase the money and will get her to play wherever as long as the price is right.

Yeah, when you look at who else is playing (The Killers, Liam Gallagher, etc.) she really stands out. Janelle Monae is playing today, which will probably go better, but when you have the whole black + legacy artist (when JJ's legacy isn't even that strong in the UK) thing it seems like too much for the given audience.

It's a shame, because if you can forgive miming it looks like she puts on a good show. Her performance is very much being slated online from most of what I've read.

I think her miming was exaggerated. There was a lot of live stuff going on.
The mistake I think was doing one massive mega mix featuring a lot of album tracks.
Starting with Trust A Try???
Plus apparently because she was late because of technical issues, the encore of her biggest hit Together Again was shelved,
She should have done a dozen or more killer hits
What Have You Done When I Think Of You Nasty Control Miss You Much Rhythm Nation Black Cat Escapade That’s The Way Love Goes If You Want This Got Til It’s Gone Together Again All For You (Plus ideally encore of Scream)
Remind people of what she did and surprise them how much JJ stuff they know.
