I just wrote this and might share it at a poetry event. Feel free to give me feedback for the next couple of days if it needs to be refined
False accusations
They made false accusations Unrepairable allegations They claim it was them too In this convinient period of me too
The accusers are broke trying to mislead the woke Yes there are also real victims But some? Don’t believe them
One accuser didn’t get a chance To choreograph a legendary dance The other worked at a garbage dump And probably worships Donald trump
They tried to sue for money Well I don’t think it’s funny the accused is deceased and innocent But don’t sue me, That’s just my two cents
I’m allowed to have an opinion And I don’t follow fake news in the onion

I was watching Todd in the Shadows' latest One Hit Wonderland episode... and in it he called Prince the biggest pop star in the world. -_- Yeah ok, whatever man.

So forced how they try to make him replace MJ. With all due respect to Prince he was just never mighty popular. He had one blockbuster album with Purple Rain, but all of his other albums sold around 1-2 million in the USA. And the USA is his best market. He was never anywhere near being the biggest pop star, I'm sorry. And it wouldn't even cross people's mind if the media hadn't used him since the 80s to portray him as this alternative MJ for some similarities they see in them. Both black, same age, they both rose around the same time - at least as a solo artist in MJ's case etc, so let's pit them against each other. Not that these little snubs at MJ really matter, because it won't change the fact of people listening to him, streaming him, buying his music etc, but here's another I just saw. So pathetic.

I dunno if he did it intentionally but I couldn't help but suspect that it was. I mean, "biggest pop star in the world"? No way Prince came that close, musical genius or not. That Twitter thing is just... blah. Hopefully they add Michael soon.

Question -- how do you deal with negative posts on social media? Im not talking about trolls, but on sites like Facebook, from people you actually know? Has this happened to any of you and do you bite your tongue or do you let rip?

I don't befriend people who are assholes to me. I don't think this person is doing it to be an asshole to me, she doesn't know I'm a fan. I'm tempted to say something, but sometimes I wonder what's the point? I’ve found it’s very much a case-by-case situation. For starters, it’s a good thing they’re not doing it to be an asshole to you specifically. I’m assuming this is about the allegations. I guess you have to make the call about whether or not you’re willing to jump into a public debate that is on a topic which can be incredibly personal and therefore fuelled by personal experiences, but also to many people is a case that doesn’t contain a definitive answer. If you do decide to offer your opinion, I’d suggest to appear as rational, objective and non-biased as possible. That way they can’t shoot you down, claiming you’re some fan girl who likes the way he sings so is in denial (😒). As for me personally, I’m never really looking for debates anymore. If I see them crack a joke online, I’ll roll my eyes and suck it up. If they joke in real life I’ll just roll my eyes and make it clear in body language that it wasn’t very funny. But if the joke is directed at me because they know I’m a fan, then I’ll just laugh it off and tell them to fuck off. I haven’t had any serious debates online about the allegations thankfully, but around the time of LN’s broadcast here I did have a handful of IRL discussions at work. If people were genuinely curious, wanted to learn and gave me a chance to speak, I’d discuss the matters. If they’re doing it to be a dick to me, I definitely won’t give them the time of day. But that’s all just me.

Has this happened to any of you and do you bite your tongue or do you let rip? I'm an admin on another music site. We're all freinds on Facebook, so everyone on the staff is well aware of my opinions about michael. We have a Facebook chat room where we discuss general stuff to do with running the site and one of the staff posted a vicious Michael meme in the chat the other day. I was livid at first and wasn't really sure how to address it. I put my phone down and put it out of my mind for a while. Eventually I went back into the chat and just hid the meme from my view. It just seemed like the best way to handle it in the end.

I'm tempted to say something, but sometimes I wonder what's the point? You've just gotta make peace with the fact that some people don't see him the way we do. I'm not going to pretend it doesn't irk me at times when I come across stuff, but it's very rarely worth entering into a dialogue about it. Sometimes I do, and I'm usually surprised by how indifferent most people are. You assume they're a hater because they post a nasty meme or something, but on the times I have raised my objections, I find most people just like to make fun because he's an easy target for jokes, not necessarily because they really believe he was guilty. That's been my experience in recent years anyway.

The way those people from Channel 4,like Daniel Pearl, gleefully announced in advance how this would end MJ's legacy is utterly sociopathic to me. IMO Channel 4 especially seems to have a long running agenda against MJ (even before LN they always put on the most trashy MJ "documentaries"). This is clearly about trying to destroy his legacy for many of them. Whether out of racism, jealousy or what remains a question.

So today I was flipping through the New Zealand Herald newspaper as I ate my lunch, and in the puzzle section I saw that they had a word search filled where every word to find was basically an incredibly successful musician. I don't remember specifics, but we're talking Queen, Prince, Bowie, The Beatles, Elvis, Metallica, The Police, Elton John, whatever you name it. Basically just a list full of the biggest legacy musicians ever.
Guess the one name that wasn't there. And like, I kinda get it? But at the same time... grow some fucking balls??? He definitely isn't the only person on that list to be accused of a crime and it doesn't undo his status as one of the most successful musicians of all time. Granted, this was the newspaper that went wild when Leaving Neverland hit last year so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised 🙄 Not the first list I've seen him missing from either. On the plus side of today though, someone I follow on Instagram was randomly wearing a cool Thriller t-shirt. Always love seeing random bits of MJ when I least expect it.
