That disclaimer is hilarious because Robson and Safechuck had been accusing Michael Jackson for several years by 2016. The allegations were 23 years old at that point with a couple trials and media circuses to boot! Like just admit you don't give a fuck. Christ.

This has REALLY pissed me off. Today's article in The Telegraph: "‘A perfect situation for a paedophile’: how Michael Jackson built Neverland" I can't even read the entire thing because I refuse to subscribe and maybe thats a good thing because my blood is boiling from the little bit I do see.

View AttachmentI only saw extracts on Twitter from it and I refuse to click on it (note: once again, it is fans who are spreading such trash around...) but those extracts aren't even correct by Wade/James' own lawsuit. Eg.
They represent this quote as if it was written about Neverland in their lawsuit. It wasn't. It was written about MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures that had nothing to do with Neverland (MJ owned NL, not his companies). The lawsuit is against MJ's companies, not Neverland. They just try to confuse the two to use the news about Neverland's sale as an excuse to once again cook up the allegations. Since Dan Reed tweeted this article and John Manly (Finaldi's law partner) liked it, I wonder if they fed it.

Let's look at it this way: last year the media was all over how NL is now unsellable because of LN it is tainted forever. Now it sold, not even two years after LN. And sold to a man who actually values MJ's legacy. So IMO it is another sign of their cancel MJ campaign failing and them (Reed, Manly etc.) being pressed about it. Of course, they are trying to spin it, like the media spins everything when it comes to MJ, and focus on the price dropping from $100 m to $22 m, but actually most of it dropped before LN and it had nothing to do with the allegations. It was 100m in 2015, then 67m in 2016, by 2019 it was 31m. It had all to do with real state being overpriced around 2015 when it was first put on the market. This is from a 2019 article:
So it probably actually irks them that it sold. But even if they believe it is somehow a "win" for them that it "only" sold for $22 (oh, but I thought this all wasn't about MJ, but is it now, Dan?) let them live with that delusion. Meanwhile MJ's streams and sales are soaring which is the true measure of popularity in case of a musician.

Anyone else get a bit down sometimes about the post-2019 situation? I'm probably old enough to know better and I've been around the block enough times to know how fleeting these kind of backlashes are. But the only good thing to come about from his passing was how he was being embraced once again and recognised for his greatness and now it feels like we can't even have that.
I try to remind myself that in some respects, the climate is not much different to how it was circa 2003-2008. Even after the 2005 acquittal, I still remember snarky comments in the media and from radio hosts etc. It was only his death which put an end to a lot of the negativity and baggage that had become attached to his name. I guess I just got used to MJ being spoken about in a favourable light again, and it was nice, as a fan to experience that again.
I know it shouldn't matter what others think and most of the time I don't give a flying fuck, but sometimes it still stings.

Maybe it's because we're similar age & been 'round that block' together, but the above sums up exactly how I feel post LN.

I'm a glass half full kind of guy, and try to stay upbeat and positive about it all. Of course, none of us wanted this for MJ's legacy, but it is what it is. I take solace in the fact that they will never kill his legacy - his is the most rock solid of any classic popular musician/band of the last 50 years imho. Nobody else, nobody, would still have the following, streaming numbers, record sales and devotion from a fanbase after having gone through the ringer in 93, 05 and 2019, accused of the most heinous crime imaginable. It speaks to both his excellence as an artist and the fans belief in his innocence that he is still loved and worshipped to this day, in spite of it all. And it's not like it's a lonely club being an MJ fan. There are tonnes of artists I can think of who I wholeheartedly believe deserve praise and accolades far beyond what they've been afforded and for whatever reason, they just haven't had the impact I feel they deserved. At least with MJ, despite all the nastiness, his impact is undeniable and undisputed even by the most ardent haters.

I get down thinking about the damage LN has done sometimes, but then I also think about the damage that it could have actually done, and the fact that MJ generally came through it fine. It kinda says to me that no matter what they do they won't stop him and the lies get pulled apart quickly.

Was watching the MST3K telethon earlier, and a rather awful joke about Michael was made. I've had a pretty shitty day today (hell, a shitty week in general), and this.... was not what I fucking needed right now. At all. I can't even finish the video now. I want to just... break everything and run away.
I swear to God if time travel is ever invented the first fucking thing that needs to be done is to go back in time and prevent the accusations from ever being made. They say you're supposed to just "move forward, you can't change the past" but moving forward isn't any good if all it does is continue to destroy this man.
