Watched Inglourious Basterds. Story 3.5/5 but everything else was top notch: the dialogues, the directing and most of all the acting! Christoph Waltz was phenomenal! I also liked it that everything was in original language: ie. that German soldiers spoke German, not everyone spoke English in the whole movie. There are lots of scenes that stuck in my mind, most, if not all involve Waltz and I don't think that's a coincidence. The opening scene was genius. It never lets up from that first scene. Only scene more heart stopping is the Michael Fassbender 'Three' scene, which is amazing. Then combined with the humour of the Brad Pitt, Eli Roth as the Italian guys in the cinema. Perfect. Such a great film. This, Django, Dogs & Fiction are just perfect.

Oh yes, those too. The actors are really great, even the side characters like the SS officer here.
And that "Italian" scene was another phenomenal moment of Hans Landa/Christoph Waltz. When he starts speaking fluent Italian, the rest of them are just like "oh, shit, we are doomed". LOL. And the overplayed, stereotypical Italian hand gestures. "Dominic Decocco", "Bravo!" - patting him on the back for saying his "own name" correctly. LOL.

Inglorious Basterds is a modern day cinematic masterpiece - I rewatched it a few months ago and I was completely gripped from the get-go. I do love how the final shot is Brad Pitt and BJ Novak looking down at the camera, then Pitt’s character says something like “Y’know, I think this might just be my masterpiece” then BAM Written and Directed by Quentin Tarantino. Great stuff! Which one do you think you might watch next, respect77?

I watched Pulp Fiction. I didn't like this one as much. It's OK to watch once, but not a movie I would love to watch again. Interesting that this is considered Tarantino's Magnum Opus, because to me Inglorious Basterds is so much better. Actually it was a bit of a disappointment after IB.

Maybe I should watch it again. I will see. But if that's the case, isn't it more his HIStory than his Thriller?
Next up it's Django.

Django is sublime. Watch out for Samuel L Jackson. And again Waltz is stunning.

In recent years, Jackie Brown is considered his best... wonder what you'll make of that! Thats my Tarantino box set, currently in use at the other end of the room

The first time I saw Pulp Fiction, I didn’t really know what I had just watched. Each time thereafter it got better and better and every time I watch it I get something new. I equated it with Thriller because it put Tarantino on the world stage, was a complete game changer for how films were made and it’s lasting cultural impact. It is an absolute masterpiece.

Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
Oh My God.
Can’t quite get over it. Whatever it is you think you’re going to see, it’s not that.
