A thread for all the insanity from both the regressive left and the populist right for those of us who don't identify with either. Some gems from last night's Democratic presidential debate.
Why bother with borders and laws, right? And then they wonder why Trump wins.
Erm, not sure if this is the best way to reach them.
Ouch.
LOL.

Our most recent bit of PC nonsense in the UK:
Absolute madness! Perhaps I should put a claim in for my human rights being infringed by the portrait of the Butcher of the Bogside, Martin McGuinness, being on display?
A lot of people in the UK are rightly shocked and disgusted by this.
Equality legislation is easily abused. Especially by Irish Republicans who are offended by everything and ashamed of nothing.
And the money was paid courtesy of the British taxpayer. Jesus....

Go Fund Me took down Israel Folau's fundraising page earlier this year: blogs.spectator.co.uk/2019/07/the-hypocrisy-of-gofundme-in-the-israel-folau-case/Yet Go Fund Me allows a page to raise funds for a Provisional IRA monument to be rebuilt in the Republic of Ireland: www.northernsound.ie/gofundme-set-up-to-cover-cost-of-rebuilding-republican-monument-in-north-monaghan/Those IRA men were trying to murder RUC officers at Loughgall police station in Northern Ireland back in 1987,for God's sake! When did it become acceptable to allow fundraising for terrorist crap to go ahead, but Israel Folau denied his? Folau killed nobody and carried out no atrocities whereas those 8 IRA men were absolutely trying to murder. Republicans in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland have absolutely no shame. None! Whoever demolished the PIRA thing did the community a favour. They built it on a farmer's land without his permission anyway.

It pretty much all seems to be madness right now. I've basically switched off from it this year. Obviously stuff gets through anyway but the political climate today seems to be more toxic than ever. Truly depressing times. Like respect77 I don't really feel like I belong anywhere anymore, just adrift.

WTF, two mass shootings in the USA in one day.
20 people killed in El Paso, Texas. Perpetrator: white supremacist.
And now there's another in Ohio with 9 people dead.

Yeah it’s okay though, they have people’s thoughts and prayers.

So apparently the Ohio shooter was a leftist Elizabeth Warren fan. The mainstream media is awful quiet on this, while in the case of the El Paso shooter it was immediately shouted from the roof tops how he was a Trump stanning white supremacist.

Yep. edition.cnn.com/2019/08/04/us/dayton-ohio-active-shooter/index.htmledition.cnn.com/2019/08/04/us/el-paso-shooting-sunday/index.htmlSo there was no evidence of a bias crime in Ohio shooting. Although this is purely speculation on my part - they may only have narrow criteria for what they class as bias (bigotry, extreme right wing ideology, racism). There may be genuinely no evidence - but that doesn't mean that the media would not report on the shooters political alignment, if indeed, the Ohio shooter was a trump supporter, for example.

Well, the El Paso shooter posted a manifesto online that made it patently clear what his motive was, namely to kill as many Mexicans as possible. We know next-to-nothing about the Ohio shooter. There is no indication (at least as of yet) that he targeted anyone in particular, or that his attack was politically or racially motivated.

Fair enough, but I'm pretty sure if he had posted Trump supporting posts instead of Warren, if he had posted swastika instead of hammer and sickle on social media it would be reported on CNN, MSNBC and the rest.

This reminds me of the Orlando shooting. My memory may be a bit fuzzy - but the media was more than happy to report that it was a homophobic attack - that was the narrative they went with. However, they avoided reporting the fact that he may have had sexual confusion himself. That goes against their narrative. I believe that was glossed over.

Although have to say, not massively integral to the reason?
