I'm starting to play the interview so, the Bart Stevens name doesn't ring a bell to me. Bart Stevens' tribute post on June 25th. I really enjoyed his stories, I though Michael only worked with LL Cool J on Serious Effect. https://www.instagram.com/p/CB3nA2snBWV

The Michael Boddicker session wasn't too great, I sensed Quincy Jones' influence on him as they're still friends. Only 5% talent in MJ? oKaaayyyy

Only 5% talent in MJ? oKaaayyyy Yeah, he kind of just rambled on for an hour about everything except MJ other than to say he had a great work ethic and he didn't like working with him in the 90's once he was more in control of his own work and away from Quincy because he tried to "do too much" or be the "star". Also I guess he was supposed to talk about TWYMMF but pretty much all he did was make fun of the bass line and then spoke nothing else about it. Kind of a waste of time unless you want to hear about his career outside of MJ or how great Quincy and Bruce are.

The Michael Boddicker session wasn't too great, I sensed Quincy Jones' influence on him as they're still friends. Only 5% talent in MJ? oKaaayyyy I just watched the Matt Forger one and he actually contradicted Boddicker. Boddicker was like MJ was hard to work with once he left Quincy and he brought an example of MJ calling him to do a guitar solo and he asked "OK, but in what key" and MJ was like "wait a minute", hung up and called him again "it's an E" etc. Probably asking someone else. Basically saying because MJ didn't read music it was hard to work with him. But Forger actually said the opposite. He talked about how MJ always expressed himself very clearly in what he wanted etc. I guess it depends on the other person as well, not just MJ, how well they could understand each other.
Why is it that all these people who are close to Quincy seem to have condescending attitudes towards MJ?
In that Let's Make HIStory book also everyone was very complimentary of MJ and appreciated his talents, the one exception was Larry Williams who came across as extremely condescending to me. And he was just kissing Quincy's butt. Basically all he said about HIStory was that too bad Quincy didn't produce it. I noticed this pattern with Quincy associates. One has to wonder how he talks about MJ with his friends behind the scenes. But then how he talks about him publicly can give us an idea about that.

Matt Forger was vastly better than Michael Boddicker, I knew Matt would give MJ his dos without kissing Quincy's butt. It seems people the closer associated to Bruce Swedien like Matt and Brad, the more complimentary and appreciative they are of MJ as an artist and as human being.
I always assumed it was someone else in the studio knocking on the door during Eddie van Halen's solo and not Eddie himself knocking on his amplifier. As a fan, it's interesting to know these kind of stuff.
And now Brad is the guest.

I always cry when Brad Buxer talks about his friendship with Michael. He may still be a bit salty over Stranger in Moscow but he really loved him.

I was genuinely disappointed Brad didn't talk about Morphine, Just Good Friends was a special moment in time given the people involved in but it still is one of the most generic songs from MJ's catalog.
As for Brad Buxer, I liked he went straight to the point and didn't ramble, as well as seeing as something positive Michael was mostly involved in Dangerous and HIStory, unlike Quincy's friends who saw him as "the star who wanted to do too much."
We fans noticed indications Michael was in a dark place during the recording of Invincible and afterwards but I never understood why, the media wasn't attacking him relentlessly in 2000 and 2001 like they did after the allegations and the HIStory era, him being in that dark place made not to be as involved in that รกlbum compared to all his others. Midlife crisis, I suppose?
