Disappointing obviously but that interview was with their head of programming, not the CEO who the letter was addressed to. Trouble is, the folks at HBO have probably already seen the documentary and been brainwashed. A pesky letter from MJs estate detailing something as dry as court facts is not nearly as effective as four hours of emotional manipulation from Robson/Safechuck. If someone knew the facts of these cases BEFORE they watched the documentary then they would watch it very differently to someone who only found out about these things afterwards. These people have already made their minds up after four hours of brainwashing and carefully rehearsed sob stories. Agree. These facts need to be spread before the doc airs. Which is why the Estate’s offensive needs to start now. The letter is a great start. They need to cast doubt in the public’s mind before this airs. It will have less of an effect if it is left until after it airs.

After that letter, my faith is even stronger. Not in the public, but the Estate have put up a very strong (and well reported) letter highlighting how these dicks are liars. If this was a trial, they'd be obliterated immediately. A lot of the public might believe the bullshit, but it's good to know that the Estate have put this out IN ADVANCE with ammunition to spare. The interview with the HBO guy seems that they're more standing their ground, rather than standing by the integrity of the documentary. He doesn't seem that convinced himself. He says its "powerful". ET was a "powerful" film if you ask me. I think Ive read the media are getting to see it today. Do NOT ger bogged down if their reviews are like those moronic blue tick guys on Twitter at Sundance. Controversy creates cash. I wish I had your faith. I liked the Estates response, don't misunderstand me there...but the truth has been told and the lies dusputed time and time again - from Jackson family, to certain public figures, to the estate. Talking truth seems to do nothing which is depressing...all they care about is the show, the media coverage, the money.

Basically, what it will come down to is what it's always come down to - if you want to believe MJ was guilty, then you will. This will add fuel to the fire for those that do.

Maybe it’s just a coping mechanism with me, but I’m starting to feel that this will also pass. It could get very ugly, but many in the general public are almost immune to this now. Disgusting, false child abuse stories about MJ have swirled around for decades. It’s nothing new. It will confirm what people who think he was guilty have always believed (wrongly of course), and us knowledgeable fans will continue to believe in his innocence. This could obviously sway some people in the middle who don’t really know the truth and don’t have a strong opinion one way or the other. That is the sad part of this. As long as the Estate go on the offensive and get the facts out there then this may be tempered to an extent. I just hope that in a years time we aren’t still talking about this and are able to still enjoy MJ’s music in public.

With HBO having been presented with thorough facts and still wanting to show the doc, one can only assume that truth doesn't matter anymore in 2019. This is the way its gone. Everything is either black or white now. Empathy is pretty much gone. Its all about how you are told to feel, and if you disagree, you're wrong. "Only a Sith deals in absolutes" Obi Wan Kenobi. You have become the very thing you swore to destroy!

I'm sorry to drag the mood down, and I hate being defeated but....I just have this sinking awful feeling that they're gonna manage to turn MJ into a Jimmy Saville figure. And what then? We are judged as fans when we actually know better:(

We are judged as fans when we actually know better:( They’ve tried for years to turn MJ into a Jimmy Saville type figure and it hasn’t worked. The difference between MJ and Saville is that MJ was acquitted after a criminal trial and there is a wealth of evidence proving his innocence, plus a large, loyal and knowledgeable fan base. I do also have a fear that if this all blows up there will be calls to mute MJ, however the letter from the Estate has given me some hope that they will fight this tooth and nail.

Take a few days break from the boards. It'll do you good.

Good letters but the first one needs to be shortened with bullet points if they want to put such info out to the public. Even i was getting bored half way through the reading of it. Sad case of affairs though when all you can (if thats it) do is send out such a letter to HBO because even if now they are thinking "s#$/ we have been dupped here they will never admit it. They will never lose face. Media outlets always try to cover up their f.ups. and while the radar letter is wonderfully sarcastic is that truely all you can do when such a vile slander feast article is written.
Overall better than nothing but what will it acheive in the long run. The odd article will mention snippets but it will always be a losing battle
