Okay, time for a thought dump.
i would post this in the positivity thread but for some reason people tend to avoid anything positive. We’ve commented how things seem worse this time because of Twitter et al. But I’ve also seen it used in a positive way.
Because I only follow people who I tend to agree with and don’t go looking for stress or disagreement, I’ve seen plenty of counter argument and facts around this ‘case’ that were hard to come by in 1993/2005. So I’m actually more positive that I was and can see there’s is a great side of human nature as well as the bastards.
So yeah, all this is shit, but just like most things in life that are caused by humanity there is a beautiful upside too, so look for it, don’t take it for granted. And by the same token, ignore the cunts. Your physical and mental health will thank you.

"Everybody should watch it"
That's really all HBO cares about.

And by the same token, ignore the cunts. Your physical and mental health will thank you. Yeah, actually I think social media works for us. I mean the mainstream media is just extremely hostile to MJ, deliberately ignores anything that would challenge their prejudice. It is social media that delivers all the receipts, court docs, analysis. Actually it shows well why the mainstream media is in a crisis. It stopped being journalism, stopped doing their job, and is just a mouthpiece for whatever propaganda needs to be pushed.
I have seen several journalists whine about "paid Estate bots" (ridiculous) and whatnot, they clearly feel heat from their stories not being bought by a large number of people. Obviously I am also in my own opinion bubble, but most comments I have seen on social media are pro-MJ. It's the mainstream media that is our enemy, social media, on the other hand, is our ally where we can counter the agenda the mainstream media is trying to push. Fans cite court documents, facts, evidence and they can't do anything about it but throw some ad hominem.
Social media is something we didn't have in 1993 and 2005, so it works in our favor indeed.

It's a difficult balance between defending MJ and drumming up more free publicity for HBO and Channel 4.
Every time the estate say something in the public domain about this documentary it creates a news article which further promotes the programme. In some respects, the estate are playing right into their hands. HBO and Channel 4 don't care about journalistic standards or ethics - controversy attracts viewers, which is all they care about.
The estate need to try and block this from every legal angle they have. I am hoping this 10 page letter was just for the sake of publicity, for getting their point across, so that if they manage to legally block it from being aired on a technicality, nobody can turn around and say that the estate are trying to silence victims, as they have already established why these two morons shouldn't be taken seriously. That's what I'm hoping their gameplan is with this. Surely they weren't naive enough to think that there 10 page letter was going to result in HBO cancelling the programme?

Another thing, I saw a picture on Twitter of a London red bus with an MJ Innocent picture plastered over it. Please tell me it's a fake? I know fans mean well, but talk about giving the programme free publicity. I bet HBO and Channel 4 are laughing theirs heads off at MJ fans.

They didn't make any legal demands in the letter as far as I'm aware. Maybe you're right and this was just to get some publicity but the fact it took them like a month to draft and send them a letter doesn't give me much hope that they will do anything else in a timely fashion. We don't really know what's happening behind the scenes, though.

The documentary is going to blow up anyhow so anything positive like this to counter and get info out there is good - there will be a weblink to the facts on the banners too I understand, it might just reach the right people you never know.

I told the person who was trying to do it that maybe that would do more harm than good and was basically told to shut up
