OK getting real now. That family are in my county, and supposedly the father is a GP who works where my sister was seen on Saturday. All rumour at this point but... yeah.

Apparently The WHO have reported that the mortality rate of those with Cornovirus is higher than expected. What the fuck do they know? If I'm looking for advice from a rock band on how viruses are transmitted I will ask Queen thank you very much.

Matty, how is your cousin? Is she very ill? Dunno, haven't seen em in years. And to think, me mam told me I'd live to regret not making more effort with the family. I showed her.

My cousin, her husband and three kids all have it. The media is not reporting the true extent where I'm living. There are two reported cases in Devon, which were from my hometown, but my cousin lives in the next town on, which tells me the media are covering up how badly this is spreading. This is coincidence no? My cousin also has coronavirus.

A patient in the UK has died due to coronavirus. Breaking news on Sky as of five minutes ago.
"A patient with underlying health conditions has died after testing positive for coronavirus, the Royal Berkshire NHS Trust said."

We have the third confirmed case, this time a Hungarian man who visited Milan at the end of February. I think we have a lot more cases, to be honest, they are just not testing most people.
Italy's death toll is very concerning.
"Italy reported 41 new deaths from coronavirus on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 148, the second highest outside of China, where just over 3,000 people have died since the outbreak began in December. "
Also the WHO yesterday corrected the statistics for fatality. Now it is at 3.4% instead of 2%. To compare: the flu's fatality rate is 0.1%. So yeah, this is NOT the flu.

Well I guess this answers your original question then

We've already had a community transmission here, meaning it's already being passed on by people. 7 days is all it took us. The guy is in Cork and didn't even know he had it, hasn't been in contact with any of the other 12 people who have ALL had some contact with someone traveling from Italy.
Next few days will tell a lot about how shagged we are here.

I guess it hasn't occurred to the bright sparks who've been bulk buying soap that if there is none left for anyone else, peoples personal hygiene will be even worse. The people with dozens of bottles of soap/handwash sitting in there cupboard better not leave the house!!!

This article from The Guardian seems to suggest that the 3.4% is exaggerated: www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/06/coronavirus-facts-what-is-the-mortality-rate-and-is-there-a-cure-covid-19

I just read this article that's put the shitters up me... Yes, I know it's the Daily Mail (horrid news agency), but they are quoting from a virus expert who was interviewed about Coronavirus on channel 4... "A doctor spearheading the search for a coronavirus vaccine today said it is the most frightening thing he has ever encountered and far more deadly than flu - as he revealed fighting it will be like a war. Dr Richard Hatchett, who heads up the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, said governments need to adopt an 'aggressive' response to tackling the virus as he revealed it could take between 12-18 months to develop a vaccine and cost £1.5bn ($2bn)..." You can only give statistics based on fact. Any other form of rate is guesswork, so the Guardian (shitrag) isn't wrong, but its also not right.

5th person was confirmed earlier today in New Zealand - this time last week it was 1. One of the people infected went to a Tool concert too in the general admission area, which isn't great so I hope a lot of people who went there are taking proper precautions.
AFAIK though, none have had to be hospitalized, with only self-isolation being necessary - which I guess is something good.
