(Sits back and waits for a Christian to be offended) Does not seem to be too many wowser ones here, back on the Prince.org every second person was the "Beulah Evangelical Church" type and was complaining about liberal use of swearing and how Prince was promoting un natural forny kashins in his mewsic. Mostly African American Christians agreeing with his JWness and Homophobia and gay atheists like myself fighting a losing battle. Love it more here, not so sure about MJJC, it was never a problem there - but Prince.org yeah that was Mt Moriah earth am flat Baptist church many times over. Some would even not like this album for the "Dark" and "Satanic" themes of songs. Get a life I say to those "Types", it is not the Village or 1625 anymore.

I've seen the Scream collection now a few times and I've decided I don't have the interest. I'm not against it but it's not aimed at me anyway I guess. I already have Somebody's Watching Me in decent quality from the Motown50 collection and I can just get the mash-up.
Number 4 is good and I hope the kids go out and buy it and newer fans.

I am actually going to buy it, because I have been listening to the remixes on Youtube and they are not half bad. It is the completionist in me and that poster is pretty cool.

I listened to it as far as Scream on the way to work today (that's the length of my commute FYI)
Not bad, a little odd to be honest. It just seems like someone else's playlist on Spotify and doesn't strike me as an official release, kind of in the same way the Queen's Deep Cuts albums never stuck with me.
One thing that sticks out though, is that we only know that Leave Me Alone is directed thematically towards the media, but without this context it's just another song about a girl who isn't working out on an album about dark matter. It's odd.
After I've finished it, I can't ever see myself reaching to play this album again (aside from when the LP arrives).
I'm actually listening to HIStory Begins now. Is there a better compilation album? I'm at the point where this stands beside all his solo albums. Perfectly put together, thematically light hearted, no panranoia, no angry retorts. Just MJ in simpler times. Ah, what a collection.
Sometimes it's nice to be reminded that before MJ had to get dark, he really really was already so good at his job

I have seen fans complain a lot that the Estate always focuses on the controversy free eras, the 80s and neglects dark MJ and the 90s. Once they do and we want light hearted, fun MJ?

That wasn't my point at all. Just pointing out how good a compilation HIStory was. I said I happened to be listening to it. I would love a good compilation based on the darker subjects of Michael's work, and Scream sure as hell is not that.

It's just a very odd playlist to me. Perhaps I'll give the HIStory Begins disc a spin as it's been about a decade since I listened to it. You mentioned a while back also and I was gonna give it a listen. Will do that.

That was a good thread man. That HIStory Begins disc was tastefully done. What I'd give to be living through a HIStory type era right now!

What I'd give to be living through a HIStory type era right now! I think HIStory Begins and Number Ones are the only compilations I've listened to straight through, maybe The Essential. Must add each one to my list. I don't think I've ever done a full Ultimate Collection. Never did King of Pop. Something new to do. By the way, it's lovely to hear Somebody's Watching Me so clear.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever done a full beginning to end listen through of The Ultimate Collection either. A few years ago I came across the white box version of it in a secondhand shop. I was delighted! I love Somebody's Watching Me. I had it as my ring tone a few years ago. It's nice to have it alright. It's a travesty that Is It Scary wasn't included and what turned me off this Scream thing more was the horrendous Thriller mix on Vevo. I mean I get the point that it's separate and only a remix but after so many fans declared their absolute hatered of the Pitbull mix, their still going ahead with those crappy EDM style remixes.I just need to except its not aimed at me and my desires don't fit into their plans. I have what MJ released in life anyway thankfully and its great to have the Wembley concert. The Off The Wall reissue last year was the first release I didn't buy, I think they lost me with the stick of chalk.

Respect, I see your point and I think it's cool that a compilation record contains some of Michael's lesser known material. But I would not call this a compilation that focuses on the darker side to MJ's discography. Rather, it recasts some of his darker cuts as Halloween songs. It doesn't get much more lighthearted than Halloween, does it?

^ But songs get featured that otherwise arent on any compilation. Finally it is not just about Billie Jean and Beat It (a constant complaint of hard core fans).

So are we saying the curse word is definitely bleeped on the Scream cd and vinyl?
