Funny enough, didn't MJ and Prince become like way more accessible than ever before for these albums? Prince did loads of interviews, and did that great one with Larry King, and MJ did the Invincible signing etc.

Why? What did he say? Traitor. "Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be... Performing, from my 1991 album Dangerous, Dangerous!" Michael Jackson, circa 2001/2002. Great reply. Can't argue with that I guess... Well, MJ was wrong about a lot of stuff towards the end.

I still remember her asking him "when I tell my friends who I've spoken to today, what should I call you?" and he goes "A friend." LOL classic.

I'll never forget watching Yokohama for the first time thinking 'Wait, there was a Thriller tour I knew nothing about?'. As much as we get passed off when critics/media barely reference anything post Thriller and Bad, he wasn't that great at referencing it himself. Mind you when I saw Prince he wasn't much different. I'm sure the only 90s track we got was 30 seconds of Diamonds and Pearls.

Both albums are too long. But I think that about several of Princes from the 90's, where as it's the only MJ album I'd say that about. I agree both are too long. I could make a 10 track Rave and a 10 track Invincible which would be much better. I think both MJ and Prince were both very poor at self-editing in the latter half of their careers. I agree with Matty that Rave is underrated though. I prefer it to most of his 90s albums except for Come and D&P. And it's much better than dross like Planet Earth, MPLSound and 20Ten. I actually voted for Rave, more because I thought no-one else would (I wasn't wrong). I think Invincible and Rave are both on a par, as in, solid albums, underrated by many in the fanbase, not either artists very best, but certainly a respectable late career addition to both artists catalogues.

I mean at its worst Invincible is boring... Rave is just bad.

You may wanna see my last post in the Main MJ section. Invincible is long, but I can listen to every song on it and enjoy it. Dangerous has too many skippers. There may be nothing on Invincible as majestic as Who Is It or that rocks as hard as Give Into Me, but there's also nothing on Invincible that sucks as hard as CLHGA and SDMW. Those are the only two MJ songs in his canon that have virtually no redeeming features whatsoever for me. I used to like Dangerous a lot more than I do right now. I kind of feel out of all of his adult solo albums, Dangerous is the one that has lost the most sheen to me. Don't get me wrong, I love much of it, but as a whole, I usually find myself only returning to the same 5-6 tracks.

We're just worlds apart because I can't even fathom which songs on Invincible could come even close to Who Is It, Will You Be There or even In The Closet for that matter!

Nothing on Invincible is as good as Who Is It. I agree with that. Speechless is as good as WYBT imho. YRMW and Unbreakble as good as In The Closet. And the "lesser" tracks on Invincible are all (mostly) quality. Give me stuff like Heaven Can Wait, Don't Walk Away, Heartbreaker, Privacy etc over Gone Too Soon, SDMW, CLHGA and WYWTOM any day of the week.

Can I make the point that Michael's 'failed' comeback sold ten million.
