Just more restrictions coming in England. Working from home etc.. Selfishly, I had lots of plans for Christmas and January and don't want them ruined. Forgive if I'm wrong but they don't seem too bad? Seems you can still go out and do stuff, see friends, go to bars, have parties and such, you're just now obligated to wear masks? and scan a pass for the more populated venues? Working From Home can be quite annoying though if that's not your thing or you don't have space at home. I personally prefer having the option between the two, though usually end up going into work since I have my own lil workspace now. These new Plan B restrictions seem pretty similar to what New Zealand has just introduced (though we're still more restricted depending on where in the country - mainly some places can't have gatherings over 100 yet), which isn't so bad. I hope it doesn't get worse though. These restrictions can be a real bitch :\

You know I'd just started a new job so WFH will be difficult and worries me a bit. Plus other things. I need to be careful that it doesn't trigger me and send me back. I know I'm just being selfish as loads are worse off though.

I need to be careful that it doesn't trigger me and send me back. I know I'm just being selfish as loads are worse off though. Oh that’s right, my bad. I apologise if I misunderstood and came across trying to downplay somethings. I too would prefer to work at work itself rather than from home if I was new to a job. Is there any chance to keep working at work? I though Boris said to WFH “if you can” but I could be wrong. Either way, I hope it doesn’t turn out too bad. The good thing is WFH has become more the norm, so I’m sure your coworkers will be understanding of anything since you’re new. And you’re not selfish. Not at all. You have every right to be concerned for your mental well-being, as do we all. There’s always someone worse off than ourselves, so it doesn’t mean we can’t be concerned for ourselves.

I feel there something quite sinister going on around this and many people are just seeming to accept everything the government throw at them, despite the government doing whatever they want. I was refused at the boarding gate last week to fly to ireland because I didn’t have a certificate to show I’d had a PCR test. I’ve been triple jabbed but the flight staff wouldn’t except my NHS cards with my 3 jabs and the dates they were given.
Hospital admissions are down and there seems -at least to me- to be a very one sided spin on the news.
I don’t know, I just feel peoples human rights are being violated here and politicians seem to be breaking the rules regardless but laying down the law to the rest of us.
And what’s going on down in Australia? Covid camps? Really?? Where does this end?

As for governments and measures. I think it's probably very difficult choice for governments to balance between keeping the health care system being able to deal with the burden of a high number of cases and trying not to ruin the economy. As opposed to Internet conspiracy theorists, I don't think it's in the interest of any government to deliberately destroy the economy and fuck with people just because they can.
Here in Hungary, initially, during the first wave in early 2020 we had stricter lockdown rules (like closing of restaurants, cinemas etc). Now, during fourth wave the government decided not to go for a full lockdown because they are wary of ruining the economy and pissing off people more (hell, COVID deniers even rage against the mask mandate), but it has a price. We have an extremely high death rate from COVID now, I think one of the highest in Europe, if not the highest. So I think governments can choose from several paths, but everything has its price.
Our vaccination camping started well, but now got stuck around 60 percent with the rest of the population not willing to get vaccinated. (All kind of Internet scare mongering and conspiracy theories re vaccines play a big part in that unwillingness.) And unfortunately even many of those who initially did get vaccinated got the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine, which has questionable effectiveness. So these all play into the high death numbers, I think.

Got my booster (Pfizer) last week. Unfortunately, Christmas is buggered as my stepdaughter has tested positive for covid (LFT & PCR) from her time at uni in Glasgow. Ah that's a shame. Wishing her a speedy and safe recovery. Delighted to get my booster on Saturday (Pfizer) from my local GP. Arm was quite sore, but not as sore as my first jab.

I'm so scared to get covid, even though I'm boosted I've been tested 3 times in the last week

I heard that it only gives you protection for 10 weeks. I heard = i read online. Listen to the actual scientists. 4 out of 5 new hospitalisations are unvaccinated or not boosted. Why would you only have some of the protection and not all?

I tested positive last Thus. Fortunately Matty and my son don't have it yet (fingers crossed they don't as our son has chronic lung disease so is especially vulnerable).
So far it's been no different than a mild cold, but then I am triple vaccinated.
