Lol! i'm pretty sure that what some people for. though i really don't wanna give it all to michael because this her documentary not michael's.๐ i know she loves her brother but let her have her moment.
i do hope this does let her legacy become noticeable again. some people has almost forgot about her because of beyoncรฉ.

I doubt there will be much MJ footage, after all it's about Janet, not MJ, but I'm looking forward to the little we will have.

I'm hearing positive reviews of the Janet doc.
Spoiler Alert
Janet gonna talk about both Michael and Joe death. i heard it gonna be emotional.
lots of rare footage.
also i'm hearing rumors Janet maybe gonna retire soon to be with her son and become a model. the doc maybe be up on youtube in the future. it isn't official yet.
i haven't seen the doc. i'm gonna have to wait until it's freely to watch.

I saw the first two parts so far (up until the start of Rhythm Nation era). My impressions:
- Joseph is whitewashed again. By watching this one would think he was just a strict but loving father, a product of his time. We know that his abuse went a lot further than just being lovingly strict and way beyond what lovingly strict parents would do, even those of his time. There were unnecessary levels of physical and verbal abuse that went way beyond lovingly strict. The documentary doesn't mention that, it doesn't even mention he beat them. Just that he was strict. Let alone the verbal abuse, the cruelty, the lack of showing love to them etc.
I get it if you don't want to put all the family laundry out there, but Joseph's abuse is well known by this point,so I'm not sure if it still makes sense to play it down. It made sense in the 80s, but not any more IMO.
- I sometimes didn't feel Janet's sighs, cries and reactions were honest. It's a subjective feeling but some of it felt fake to me. A good example of this is when they went to Gary at the beginning. She's all emotional on camera, but this was also the occasion where, behind camera, she and Randy took down MJ's monument, saying the family should be honored not just MJ. (Ever since there's no family monument replacing MJ's.) Here's that episode as a reminder:
- In Part 2 there's some studio footage of Janet recording with Jam and Lewis. This clearly shows why she never stood a chance to compete with MJ. There's even a falling out between her and Jam/Lewis because she's unable to deliver the vocals they ask of her. (Kudos to her for putting it in the documentary, though.) I think vocals, singing has always been her weak spot and probably a big reason why I was never really able to enjoy her music that much. She has some great tunes and she's definitely a great dancer. But her vocals leave a lot to be desired.
- You gotta love some of the coded language like Paula Abdul: "I was noticed by the Jackson brothers". Yeah, you were Jackie's mistress, girl. LOL.
Overall I think it's okay. From an MJ fans perspective, of course, I'm also interested in how it reflects on MJ and I'm glad to see overall it's okay. I haven't seen part 3 and 4 yet, where the allegations are addressed, but I already hear she made it very clear she believes in MJ's innocence which I'm glad to hear because I was afraid she would be wishy-washy.
