This sort of knobbery was the reason so many people supposedly went off MJ after Bad. The too cool for skool brigade that still bought Dangerous bits didn't tell anybody and hid it behind their copy of Nevermind that they never played. aazzaabb TonyR you can both suck it. It's not musical snobbery. I've spent the last few weeks listening to Abba for Christ's sake!! But for me, getting on board with an artist is not just about the music, I have to feel some kind of emotional connection to them as well and Adele just doesn't resonate with me in that way. Plus she's shit compared to proper artists like Tori/Bush. Y'see, now THAT was snobbery. Just kidding mate. I actually agree with most of it. Taylor Swift is another. 8 number one albums? Come on. But at least Swift/Sheeran and Adele are undeniably very talented. I'm much more fucked off when I see acts like Bieber and these superstar DJs doing well.

Yeah, it's not like I begrudge them their success, but to me, musics a very personal thing, and so joining in on the latest go-to artist for the masses just makes me a tad nauseous. Don't mean to get all deep about it, but I think it stems from being bullied at school and seeing what shits most of the popular kids were. Teenage Matty would be daydreaming about MJ or Tori with lines like "no-one understands me" (Childhood) or "I wanna spit in the faces of those beautiful boys" (Precious Things by Tori) just speaking to me on a fundamental level. I know it all sounds tragically teen angst ridden, but these things have a lasting effect into adulthood. And I really was bullied terribly. Adele is the kid that sailed through school loved by everyone and MJ and Tori are the brilliant, but misunderstood, unpopular kids who get a hard time for being different. God, how's my mental health coming across in all of this?

It's truly remarkable how she's gone from Lloyd Christmas's sister to what she is today: Touch of Meatloaf also when he was younger. Two out of three ain’t bad.

I dunno, I'm automatically turned off Adele due to her immense popularity. I know that sounds stupid, but I have this weird thing where if I feel someone is being shoved down my throat ad nauseam it irritates me and makes me want to buck the trend and avoid them like the plague. He says, as he runs a forum dedicated to one of the most popular artists in music history (I'm just pulling your leg hehe)In fact I think Adele's 25 was physical only? Also, much thanks to her for getting Spotify to remove the shuffle button on albums. 100% agree For the first 6-7 months yes, then it went up on streaming. Smart decision, especially given not everyone had jumped to streaming by that point. Also to point out, there's nothing stopping anyone from shuffling any album on Spotify. They just did a minor UI change on the album page for the big green play button (which I thought was odd it defaulted to shuffling before hand anyway, but hey).

I could never work out how NOT to shuffle an album without playing track one then deselecting shuffle, which I'd often forget to do. Like you say it was shuffle by default which was a strange UX choice I thought.

Like you say it was shuffle by default which was a strange UX choice I thought. It was a choice I got used to and one that never overly bothered me (since I knew tapping Track 1 would play it in order), but I still thought it was a bit weird decision. Like shouldn't the default behaviour be the normal track order that was intended? Least that should get priority IMO. Get this too - on the desktop apps, the big green button on an album page was 'play' not shuffle, so it was actually inconsistent between desktop and mobile devices. I'm glad it's consistent now and more sensical, IMO.

I think we all have to connect and resonate with the artists we love. Absolutely. But there’s also artists you can take at face value. You don’t have to have this deep interconnectedness with everything. It must be exhausting.

Not good Matty, not good. And that's coming from me.
