No one said fans shouldn't or couldn't be hyped for the movie. What was said was that if fans are expecting this to be the biggest thing ever, they're setting themselves up for disappointment. I don't care about Marvel either (I've only seen one of their movies) but that doesn't change the fact that they are big movie events. I'm looking forward to the movie as well but I'm keeping my exowctatios realistic is all. Russ, may I ask why you’re so downcast about it? I don’t see how fans could be anymore disappointed in what we’ve endured for the past 5 years. A certain “documentary” has surely been one of the lowest points, and part 2 is in the offing. Surely we’re due something celebratory? We have walked the toughest path of any fandom. Surely there’s redemption somewhere at some point? Are we finally going to arrive at Damascus? Maybe? Maybe not? But we have to remain hopeful and optimistic brother. We have to keep as much faith as we possibly can.

I didn't say "the whole fandom", I said "anyone". Isn’t that the same thing? 😁 Haha, I wish anyone / everyone was a Michael Jackson Fan

Personally, I'm very excited for the movie. Even if I wasn't, I'd still just be happy that something positive is happening. Having said that, I'm keeping my exowctatios real. Movies don't do anywhere near the business they used to anymore. In addition to that, biopics pretty much always have the same lifespan: they're nunber one at the box office for a week or two, then they're largely forgotten about. I'm super excited to go see it in the theater and if it's good enough, I'll probably go see it twice, if not more. I'm just keeping my expectations for how it lands with the general public realistic is all.

I’ve thrown sensible out the window and said what the heck! I’m exhausted from being sensible. The film is going to be wonderful, the reaction positive and the response will be the MJ Universe Phase II will begin! 😆

I live in a warm climate now, so I wear shorts every day. Because of that, everyone seems my MJ tattoo on my leg, which leads to many conversations. The reason I mention it is because I'll be at the theater on opening night, with my leg msot likely up on the seat in front of me with a "yeah, this move is about my guy" look on my face lol

Call me naive but I really feel something great is in the ascendency. We’ve never had MJ presented in this way before, or his story told on the silver screen. A stellar cast and crew, a great director, massive budget and everyone or anyone who’s had a sniff say something big is coming. I love Florida. My family almost settled there in the 80’s but we moved back to ireland and then my father eventually to Portugal. That tattoo is a Declaration of Independence my friend. We shall wear them with pride. That tattoo bearing leg will be the pride of the movie theatre. 😎

It's not too touristy where we live but we're just an hour or two from places like Disney, Universal, Daytona and so on.

My experience is that looking forward to something is just as exciting than getting there at the end. I really love that we have something potentially positive to look forward and speculate about things like how the movie will be, who will be in it, how will Jaafar look or do etc. It's fun, it's exciting. And if someone wants to speculate how well it will do at the box office, so what? I definitely hope it will do well enough to be considered a box office success. That's all. I'm not expecting it to beat Marvel or Star Wars and it doesn't have to.
At this time I just cherish the mood, the excitement, the anticipation. The clouds aren't cleared yet from above MJ's legacy (upcoming trial), so it's good to take your mind off that sometimes and be hyped for something potentially positive.

When news was first announced of the biopic I have to admit I was sceptical, but the more we've learnt about it, the more I feel positive. Like with anything, I'm not expecting miracles, but I do feel quietly confident this will do well for MJs legacy and challenging the media narrative. Time will tell.

Im amazed at how detailed the film appears to be. I presume the actress playing the assistant is quite well known? Or is it normal to add every cast member even if its just a random with a one minute scene?

Or is it normal to add every cast member even if its just a random with a one minute scene? I don't know if these are well known actors. I haven't heard of most of them. The order of announcement of the characters also doesn't seem to follow any chronological or importance order. To me it just seems like maybe the actors themselves or their agents are adding themselves to the IMDb site. Those who bother adding themselves at least. I'd say the assistant of Yetnikoff is probably a pretty minor role, definitely more minor than Yetnikoff himself, but they haven't announced yet who'd play Yetnikoff.
