I hated Bohemian Rhapsody and I cringed for all the things I knew the movie got wrong or were down right fabricated. I'm sure I'd hate even more the MJ biopic if I see it.

Another project for the general public. I have no interest and don't think it will provide any insight to hardcore fans. I've seen very few biopics where I've felt they've done a good job and an MJ biopic would be by far the hardest to nail out of all of them. By their nature they are usually pretty shallow. A no holds barred, all encompassing documentary series featuring all the video and audio Michael left behind would be far better (with the right director, please not Spike Lee again.)
Oh well, just another thing we have to get through while we wait for them to finally give us a decent project. #WeWantACreativeDirectorWhoKnowsWhatTheyreDoing

What with the mixed climate out there regarding MJ right now, the last thing he needs is a box office disaster. I'm not saying it won't do well, but it feels like a very risky move to endorse such a high profile project so soon after LN. I dunno, maybe they're trying to take control of the narrative in their own way. We all know the critics will be brutal, but that's been true of everything MJ related for the last 25 years. I guess I'll reserve judgement for now. It feels sort of inevitable that this was coming as rockstar biopics are all the rage right now and MJs estate love nothing more than jumping on a bandwagon.

The James Brown biopic was pretty good despite the kid looking nothing like James.
But I don't want to see ANYONE attempt to play MJ. It would just be cartoonish because MJ's combination of kinesthetic and personality traits cannot be replicated by an actor.
And even if by some miracle they did find an actor that could pull it off, they'd focus on the weirdness and tragedy but that isn't a good representation of his life.

I'm so sick of biopics in general, they never make for great movies, regardless of who does it production wise. I don't want some actor playing MJ regardless of who it is it will come off cheesy and like an impersonator. If you are going to do anything on the life of MJ do a freaking documentary get real stuff real footage real interviews none of this garbage.

I really really didnt like Bohemian Rhapsody. Be cool if they went down the Rocketman route and doubled down on trippy ness and fantastical stuff.
Basically an MJ movie fit for the MCU.
Just give us "Moonwalker 2: Katie's Revenge" actually

Can't see it being any good. I enjoyed BR for what it was and it wasn't amazing. I definitely think MJ will be much harder to get right and can't see them taking the time to do it.

EXCLUSIVE There will be an official Michael Jackson biopic. It’s coming from Lions Gate, produced by Graham King with a John Logan screenplay. It will be called “Michael.” The Michael Jackson estate will coproduce the film which doesn’t have a director yet. The good news for Jackson fans is that King, who produced “Bohemian Rhapsody,” about Queen, is a Michael Jackson fan. He has done five years of research about Jackson and does not believe he the accusations of pedophilia. So the movie will not be a white wash but it will be clear eyed in its approach. I had a long talk with King about this last week after the premiere on Broadway of “MJ The Michael Jackson Musical.” He sat with the John Branca, who runs the Estate. They are on the same page. The movie is not based on the musical and will go beyond 1992 to the end of Michael’s life in 2009. (It could really be a miniseries.) Logan is a three-time Oscar® nominee. King and Logan previously collaborated on Martin Scorsese’s “The Aviator.” Logan also wrote Ridley Scott’s Best Picture winner “Gladiator.” King is a busy guy these days. He’s also producing the official Bee Gees biopic (my guess probably called “Staying Alive”) and toying with bringing “Bohemian Rhapsody” to Broadway based on the hit movie. www.showbiz411.com/2022/02/07/michael-jackson-biopic-a-go-at-lions-gate-from-producer-of-bohemian-rhapsody-with-john-logan-script

Same, not sure how I feel.
Not a fan in general. Never saw BH despite being a fan of Queen. But anyway, I think it must be a good thing when you look at how it's helped Queen, ABBA etc. But obviously it depends how much of his personal life is covered.
Bearing in mind it's a biopic it has to be covered in great detail so with that on mind, it's probably best avoided. Unless of course by some miracle it shows the whole thing from MJs perspective.

Isn't it too early for this? I mean, Michael is still being talked about everyday and I feel like this biopic isn't really going to have much impact. The BH biopic was made decades after Freddie died and kinda aroused the GP's interest in Queen again. Their streams went up, kids everywhere were getting into their music etc. Michael music sales and streams are still going strong, the public is slowly coming around to see his innocence, his videos get millions of views on yt everyday, the musical is selling out, etc so I don't really know what exactly they're trying to achieve with this. If they really have this much money to throw around, why don't they help with Taj's docuseries? At least we'll be getting rare actual footage and things like that. I'm not completely against the biopic but I feel like they should wait a few more years if they must do it.
