This is absolutely not a black and white situation, it's just an awful situation involving someone that is not acting rationally and pushing a fictional fantastical version of events to the entire population of Russia. Whatever the response to this situation, there are going to be serious consequences. The risk of a world war unfortunately outweighs all else, but it's almost seeming like a certainty at this point unless there is an insurrection in Russia.
It's all opinions here though, I think I agree with how it's currently being handled to an extent. It's too hard to put any one solution on a table.
To be honest, I'll admit most of my attention has been dedicated to just taking in what's happening rather than thinking of what should be done because I'm no expert, or even knowledgeable. I think the important thing is for all of us to just do something, anything. Even the smallest of gestures is something.
I saw a post on here mentioning Syria, and I see lots of posts on LinkedIn about why X wasn't said about Y. It is hypocrisy, but it's human nature. If someone told you a 4 year old was killed by a car 2 streets away, you'd be shocked and saddened. But if you hear the same story about a child in Kent, are you going to feel the same? Ukraine is way too close to home. If everyone doesn't know at least 1 Ukrainian person, everyone surely knows a Polish person who will in some way be absolutely terrified and devastated by what's happening. This is far too close to home for many of us on this board, and it's truly sickening to spend even a minute thinking of the various possibilities from where we stand today.
This is a pre-dominantly Western fan forum. We Europeans are being threatened in a way we didn't think possible in 80 years.
Not in any way lecturing anyone in case the tone of my message comes across that way. Far from it. I'm just kinda rambling I guess. We can all disagree about X and Y, but we all agree that what is happening is wrong and frightening and there is 1 enemy here, that is killing people that live a few blocks down the road.
