Jesus really? That would include any of the Temperton songs then if that was the case. Bit worried now... I know that Starlight was removed from YT etc. But that could have been a coincidence. The reveal tomorrow or Friday should put this to bed I think. I could be totally wrong. I just don't see him suddenly giving the go ahead for his stuff to be used after all this time. Would he be a hurdle, even? If they get approval from Temperton's Estate, that might be all they need? OR considering Thriller is the big one, maybe they threw him a substantial pay day. You'd never know with this Estate but that's unlikely as it would involve opening a purse.

The 2 songs I wanted most both now confirmed. Delighted. Hope this is the more polished version that we have in LQ.

They should just pay Quincy and be done with it. Isn’t the Quincy situation the reason why there was nothing on the Off The Wall release? They included the Spike Lee doc and A STICK OF CHALK! I SAID A STICK OF CHALK!!!

I SAID A STICK OF CHALK!!! Estate gave us a real collectors item with that stick of chalk. And now ladies & gentlemen we come to lot 25. It’s a genuine stick of chalk from the 2016 re-released Off The Wall album. This specific piece of chalk allowed you to create your own cool Off The Wall artwork on a cardboard panel on the inside of the CD booklet. This particular piece of chalk was used to draw an ejaculating penis with the words “Quincy sucks” underneath. Do I hear one pound? One pound to the guy in the Olivia Newton John t-shirt. Do I hear two pounds?? Two pounds to the person in the Madonna t-shirt. Two pounds going once, going twice…… Sold! Sold to the person in the Madonna t-shirt! Oh fuck it, just take it. Keep your money. Please just remove it from the auction house immediately. Get it away from me!

Even though I'm glad that the estate is finally releasing music in a way that's new and fortunately no other best of, the demos are unfortunately not really new for fans, the first 2 at least fans know them clearly through YouTube for a long time but we have Yes, 8 more songs that will be revealed, but I hope that there is not only leaked stuff, but also something that we all haven't heard yet. If that's not the case, that would be kind of disappointing and annoying, because we've been on something for so long new waited since xcupe 2014 there hasn't been anything and it would be nice to get something that we really haven't heard yet

Can’t believe it’s been over 8 years since Xscape. Although at the same time it does feel like about 10 years since we’ve had new music. To be honest I’d love if these ten tracks were polished and perfected by Bruce Swedien and Quincy Jones to give them that glow and make it feel like a new album but hopefully it will be a really decent disc with demos in decent quality.

As for She's Trouble, cool! Fingers crossed it's in good quality. I know some fans will be whinging because it's already leaked, but I have the same opinion for this as I do for Xscape: If you seeked out unreleased music, you don't really have any grounds to complain when they finally put it out since you voluntarily went out to look for it. Most fans haven't heard his unreleased stuff and there is only a finite amount left. I don't think most fans should be without this music just because a minority of fans have already heard it.
I'm also pretty keen to hear the original demo of Behind the Mask. I like the version of Michael, but I'm not the biggest fan of the production work on that album so there's a solid chance I might end up preferring Mike's version hah.

I might be totally misreading your post so apologies, but are you talking about them polishing and perfecting them now? Bruce Swedien unfortunately passed away in late 2020 so that's not possible.

This. Fans listen to illegally leaked material then complain about not getting anything new (to them). I already said this: MJ wasn't Prince in terms of recording a gazillion songs enough for 100 years of future releases. His pool was already limited (and I feel Thriller era especially), the Estate can't make new material magically appear (unless with the help of Eddie Cascio). If you listened to leaked material, fine, but that's not grounds to complain how you are not getting anything new.

If you listened to leaked material, fine, but that's not grounds to complain how you are not getting anything new. Yes and no. Of course fans cannot complain if they release leaked material, it's only logical that they would. But at the same time, any estate/organization worth their salt would try to get a sense of what has been in the hands of the fans for years already and take that into account while compiling the tracklist for a project like this - you want to make it interesting and offer an incentive to buy to the diehards in the fanbase too, after all. They can't magically make thousands of tracks appear, but there is still more than enough material out there that diehard fans have not heard (outtakes but also demos for the songs that made the album). They can easily find ways to make this project interesting to both people that have and have not heard the leaks. So if they release an album with leaked material but also some gems that we've never heard, great. If it's just the leaks (and knowing them, it may just be YouTube rips, so no quality upgrade either), then it's another lazy effort imo.

I lol'd at first and then remembered that it was more true than funny.

If it's just the leaks (and knowing them, it may just be YouTube rips, so no quality upgrade either), then it's another lazy effort imo. I don't dispute that they could put more effort into these releases but complaining about them putting already leaked material on them is not something I'm going to do. It's unfair because those fans who have heard those tracks spoiled it for themselves. Of course, they could put more effort into it by putting various demos on the album showcasing the creative process, the development of song etc, beyond already leaked material and some never before heard ones. I think they could easily make two discs of such material, although those would probably only appeal to the hardcore fan and they don't seem to care about the hardcore fan. But here I was addressing complaints (seem them on Twitter too) like "yawn, we already know these songs, give us something new". Actually it's a good thing that even if songs like She's Trouble already leaked we will have them in better quality. I think anniversary releases are for that too: to finally officially release already leaked material etc.
