I also have confirmation that Sunset Driver is exactly the same as the previously released version. The confusion remains as to if the song was written during the Off The Wall era or if it was the Thriller era. The Estate now claims it is a Thriller outtake but other sources say Off The Wall. I think it's always been confused for an Off the Wall outtake, further amplified by the OTW-era artwork in Michael Jackson: The Experience. Certainly I always thought it was an OTW outtake until recently.
And TBF, the Ultimate Collection booklet did state 1982, but I think people didn't believe it because elsewhere in the book, Unbreakable was listed as a date other than 2001.
Maybe we'll get OTW's Sunset Driver on Off The Wall 45 (please don't let that be a thing hahah)
It never sounded like a Thriller outake to me. If it truly is from 1982, then sonically it was already dated before it was even recorded. The disco sound was long dead by 1982. In some ways Sunset Driver does sound more advanced than the songs on Off the Wall, perhaps it offers a sample of what a follow-up to OTW would have sounded like in a world where Disco did not have the backlash and popularity decline.

Hopefully the Starlight that is circulating is from the same bad RIP, or else the Estate are going to have to fork out for refunds just like the Bowie Estate did for the A New Career In A New Town mastering issue with the "Heroes" track suddenly dipping in volume during the 3rd verse.
That static renders it unlistenable. The synths have more kick and as a song it sounds better, but if that static has made it on to CD's then I don't know what to say. All reviews I've read so far mention it.

Lengths for the bonus tracks (I'm assuming this is based off the CD since the user is reposting content of the CD booklet and such, as Respect posted above)
Glad Carousel is longer than what we got on Thriller 25. The main line on the chorus has wiggled it's way into my head once or twice these past few weeks!

It took me until recently to learn... that I absolutely love Carousel! I love how the last verse makes it all ambiguous. MJ tripping out of his tits at a circus.

Including 2mins of the song and then fading it out was one of the most bizarre, pointless and baffling choices of MJs career while he was alive. Even more so than Beat It feat Fergie.

I too have slept on Carousel until recently. Fantastic song, prefer it to TGIM tbh, although I know it was Human Nature which it actually replaced (a sound decision).

Regarding the existence of a double vinyl release, I'm seriously doubting it's happening. Nowhere online is listing it and apart from the HMV ad, there's literally no indication to believe it's happening. :-(

I’m getting the one step even though I’ve got nothing to play it on at the moment, so it will probably be sitting on the shelf for awhile but if I don’t get it I know I’ll end up regretting it. I’m the Thriller album another 3 times! I must be absolutely bloody mental! 🤦🏻♂️🤣 Hahaha yeah I don't own it on vinyl so I thought I may as well get that one. The price still hurts though lol. Also I think a lot of us own several copies of stuff at this point so you're all good I’m half afraid to count the amount of Thrillers I own. A few months ago I picked up a brand new Thriller25 in a charity shop for £0.50p 😂🤣 I’m sure the Thriller40 CD will be in stock in the same charity shop at some point. Should I hold off until then? 😆🤣😂

As soon as I hit the Create Post button I did feel it was a bit much to lump you in with them, so I’ll take this opportunity to retract part of my statement. But you know what I mean about those two! I know, I should be used to it by now I guess. 🤪

Worrying thread...
I'm becoming even more solid in my feeling that I'd rather this estate just not release anything at all. As much as I want good new MJ releases to happen, these idiots always seem to fuck it up.

Could this mean that there is no 1-LP edition? So much confusion 2 days before the release date!!"
