None of my local stores have Thriller 40 in stock. Target has an empty spot on the shelf where Thriller 40 is supposed to go, associates said the delivery didn't arrive and they have no idea when it will. Walmart said their system estimates copies will arrive on Tuesday. This launch has been badly botched. I ended up driving about 50 minutes to my nearest Barnes and Noble and they had copies of the CD. The Estate probably doesn't deserve that level of effort from me but it's always nice to have a new MJ release to pick up.

Kinda shocking that big chains don't even know when they're gonna have the album. This entire thing has clearly been a rush job top to bottom.

We are all angry with the Estate but the blame for all the delayed shipments is on Sony, since they handle all the manufacturing and distribution. Pretty amazing that both the Estate and Sony failed spectacularly in their respective roles.

Just watched Thriller 4K for the first time. You forget how great it was. What a treat to see it like this. It's like seeing it again for the first time! And I don't care what anyone says, Thriller the song is just a genius pop song, in the upper echelons of his canon of work. Not many songs could carry a music video for 9m40sec until you get to hear the chorus!! It's a fantastic video. I haven't watched it often on YouTube in the past few years, exactly because I've been so frustrated by the low quality. Now I'm enthusiastic about it again. The detail you can see is so fantastic. Next time we are going to have a cinema screening with our fan club I'm sure we are going to watch it and Beat It on the big screen and it will finally look like the movie it's supposed to look on the big screen. And BTW, Michael looked so perfect. Ola was beautiful too.

Found The Greatest, side-by-side with each other ๐ The situation seems a bit different here in regards to availability. Iโve seen a few music stores today by chance and the Thriller 40 LP was displayed prominently in the new releases section for them. One of the most popular record stores (not a chain, but a local) has actually advertised it twice in the last two days on their social media along with some other LPs.

They need to sort out The Making Of. Imagine watching The Making Of with your son and then finishing off with the short film all in 4K. He won't watch Thriller or Ghosts. I tried but he made me turn it off and wouldn't even listen to MJ for about 3 months after. ๐๐

Do a Clockwork Orange job on him. He'll be grand.

But he asks to watch MJ pretty much everyday, so I'll take that as a win! Real quote from 2 days ago: "Mummy why are you listening to Morrissey? He's good but Michael Jackson is the best." ๐

I think my first horror experience was A Nightmare on Elm Street, so after that Thriller really didn't seem scary at all. I first saw both towards the end of the 1980s, say 1987-89, but I think I have seen Elm Street before I saw Thriller. But I was around 10-11 at the time, not 5.

So this might rather be a MoFi thing.

I was scared of Snow White and The Wizard of Oz as a kid so I can't judge! But now as an adult, all my favourite movies are horrors. Go figure.

Should this high number have me worried that it will run out before my retailer would receive copies? (I pre-ordered the SACD only.)

God the artwork really doesn't get any easier to look at. It really doesnโt, does it. It makes me cringe seeing pictures of it in public next to other records. Very embarrassing. Once again, they didn't listen to the fans.
