It really doesn’t, does it. It makes me cringe seeing pictures of it in public next to other records. Very embarrassing. Once again, they didn't listen to the fans. I don’t know why they didn’t just use the new cover they made for CD/streaming. I know there’s a backlog when it comes to vinyl which could affect changing something late in the production process, but that would be only for the actual vinyl record itself I believe, not the cardboard sleeve.

Just saw an add for Thriller 40 on YouTube.
Hate YouTube ads.

It's like they didn't want to fully concede that their logo was dogshit.

MJ was an artist from the 80s and 90s, his music will reflect that time period and that is nothing to be ashamed of. You don't pick up the many new releases over the years from The Beatles or Jimi Hendrix and expect new logos or for the music to sound contemporary, but the estate act as if MJ was a relic from a bygone era that needs dumbing down for the next generation. It's so silly, because none of their attempts have made an ounce of difference to his appeal with the younger audience. The younger generation will come slowly but surely, attracted to the excellence of the work he left behind. Not because of a shitty new logo or an Afrojack remix of Bad.

About time there was some proper marketing! Michael Jackson atop Times Square! (from Official MJ's Instagram Story)

Found The Greatest, side-by-side with each other 😎 The situation seems a bit different here in regards to availability. I’ve seen a few music stores today by chance and the Thriller 40 LP was displayed prominently in the new releases section for them. One of the most popular record stores (not a chain, but a local) has actually advertised it twice in the last two days on their social media along with some other LPs. Marbecks?

Ah! I think this rings a bell!🤩 I visited a few in New Zealand but it was so long ago I can’t remember the names. If I remember correctly box sets cost quite a lot down there?

Ah! I think this rings a bell!🤩 I visited a few in New Zealand but it was so long ago I can’t remember the names. If I remember correctly box sets cost quite a lot down there? Yeah, it’s favourite of anyone here who loves music! And yeah, unfortunately so. One reason I stopped collecting LPs tbh. I remember in 2013/14, new 1xLPs were $35NZD, now they’re closer to 50/60. Thriller 40, Revolver, Midnights, all are 1LP and they’re $55-$65NZD ($34-$40USD). It’s mental. That new 7CD Guns n Roses boxset is $539NZD ($332USD). JB Hi-Fi (where I took the photo above and where I got the prices above from) do do 20% vinyl sales every so often though, which helps ease it, but yeah sadly it’s not cheap. I remember the Bad 25 deluxe boxset being $60NZD at the time, which was actually a good price. 3CDs+1DVD.

You have NEVER forgiven Chris have you?! I don't give him a second thought tbh, but why invite unnecessary controversy to, well... anything MJ related. I still think he has a few bangers. Haven't heard a tune since 2008, mind.

Undecided whether to buy the vinyl. The inside looks nice but the cover puts me off! Is the Vincent Price and MJ pic from the vinyl or the CD? Or both?
