Michael's Lover has outed herself here as far as I'm concerned We're all fans here and I don't think anyone would seriously deny that MJ is a controversial artist. But the actual poll question asked if you listened to artists with criminal or questionable pasts. Don't you feel it's a little unfair to lump MJ in with that category if you truly believe he was innocent? I think it's possible to simultaneously believe he was innocent of what he was accused of and also view his lifestyle choices as questionable.

I most certainly do, regardless of how innocent I think it all was.

On another note, I know that a massive chunk of the Arcade Fire's fans were so distraught over the revelations of Win's behaviour (regardless of any crime being committed, it's not a crime to be a bastard) because their whole band was based on the new-age family and the closeness they shared. Stories of him pestering fans for sex and having X number of affairs killed the band for a lot of people because they really bought into the Arcade Fore way of life. I felt sorry for them, really.

The term "questionable past" implies that you think there may have been something immoral going on. If you believe he was innocent, the only thing questionable would be his judgement, not his entire past. I just hate it when I see fans talking about MJ as if he belongs in the same category as Crosby, R Kelly etc.

Not me. It's a fact that a lot of people consider MJ to be questionable or downright guilty. I was just making a comparison. I think you're picking me up wrong.

I don't like it, but that's the way it is.

I won't listen to the R Kelly penned MJ tracks.
Mainly because they're shit.

Is the next thread 'Would you have still listened to MJ if he would have been found guilty?'

Also, I listen to milli vanilli I wouldn't consider them to be controversial in the slightest, their label/management were the villains there IMO.ย Loves a bit of Milli und Vanilli!ย I know, I was being silly

I mean, I listen to some artists that I don't particularly like as a person. There was a time when I wouldn't have but I guess I separate more now. I do think child molestation puts me off listening to an artist though, lol.

I have to say the more Roger Waters interviews I see the more difficult I find it to listen to Pink Floyd's music. Which I know is a bit unfair to the other members of the band, who called him out on his BS.
