Mixing greatest hits and compilations annoys the hell out of me. Why compare all of the "best" songs ever released by one band and compare them to 10 or 11 of the best songs an artist wrote over a short period of time, sequenced them in a certain way to make an album "click". That's why it's such a huge thing to have 2 separate studio albums in that list. Plus having Dangerous as such a huge seller. 4 albums at 20 million plus sales. No one comes near that. I really can't think of anyone. I guess Adele and Ed Sheeran must be the closest? The guys that did Twinkle Twinkle Little Star maybe?

Or based on his works. Tchaikovsky I think. Gonna look it up... EDIT: Mozart arranged it. It was Mozart.

acharts.co/ireland_albums_top_10061 in Ireland this past week, no change. Updated tomorrow. I had thought there was like no airplay here, but there very much is. I just don't listen to the radio.

The order of the last 4 albums makes me feel queasy. I know right. It's almost like HIStory should be put in the spotlight, promoted and re-examined. If only there were some kind of anniversary in which to take advantage of. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

The order of the last 4 albums makes me feel queasy. That's just because new releases always have an advantage on streaming platforms. Over time I'm sure HIStory will overtake Xscape back.

For unfortunate reasons. That song has popped into my mind a couple of times these last few days. One of the very few MJ songs I'd love to become irrelevant.
It has, by far, the most plays on HIStory.
And yeah. Xscape is higher up there because it only came out in 2014, and LNFSG was a big hit too - in fact both 2014 mixes are carrying the majority of plays on that album.

And what constitutes an 'album play'? Do I need to listen to all 15 tracks to be considered a listen? Always wondered the same with a song, does it have to be all the way through or do they count certain time?

You might find this article helpful on how album units are calculated via streaming: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Album-equivalent_unitBut basically, in the USA, 1,500 streams of any track is the equivalent of 1 album sold. They don’t calculate it based off whether someone listens to it front-to-back. As for the final one, Spotify doesn’t count songs played for less than 30 seconds as a play (see second question here).

Thank you That amazes me, so basically if 10 people purchase TDCAU that counts as one album sale. Or if that one song gets streamed 1,500 times. Even if no other track from the album gets played. I mean I love all the new technology, but that's sad in my eyes. Call me old fashioned but it's not the same as someone deciding they want to listen to everything that artist has just put their heart & soul in and making the hard decision to part with their cash & buy & listen to the full release.
