This reminds me of a review I saw from either NME or Melody Maker (one of those pretentious British music rags) from 1982, saying that Thriller was unremarkable and would signal the death-knell of MJs hopes for a successful solo career. LOL. You have to feel sorry for the critics who get it THAT wrong. And that in turn reminds me of this. Not an article, but still has to do with a magazine so I think it is OK to post here. I feel like MJ has never really been a media's darling. Maybe for 5 minutes during Thriller simply because there was no way to overlook him then. I kind of consider him a "People's Champion" because he sure didn't get as much support and respect from the media as some of his peers did and it's like he became so huge despite of the media rather than because of them. Sorry this reminds me of this - hilarious www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11930935Michael Jackson can sit on top of the world.....

^ It's so weird hearing him talk about his future life when we know how it turned out. Heartbreaking too in some ways.

I've been trying so hard to find issues of Black Beat, Right On, and Rock and Soul. It's difficult to find those old magazines.
